Meanwhile, Mel Brooks‘s least accomplished feature film of all the ones he directed was produced by Castle Rock. That’s the company meathead founded to bring boomergroomer Stephen King’s novels to the screen without them running the risk of ending up in the hands of an actually talented Director such as Brian De Palma or Stanley Kubrick. Meathead doesn’t come close to their output by any means. He has no sense of visual style that distinguishes his movies from your average no-name hack. Even his father was able to replicate the visual style of film noir with Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid.
Is it me or did movies from mainstream American Studios get uglier and uglier after the end of the 1960s as soon as boomers started taking over the studios?

Despite writing his paychecks, Lear had no reason to feel guilty about the fact that more people wanted to watch Gary Coleman instead. That’s progress. That’s wokeness. That’s America.
We would be better off. His father and his ex-wife made better movies than he ever did. His Twitter feed has ruined everything he ever did for me. Norman Lear took Embassy Pictures and turned it from a respected distributor of foreign films into a glorified vehicle to give this bloated boomer Nepo baby a directorial career he didn’t deserve. He killed it, and then he sold it to Coca-Cola, who broke up the individual pieces, and let Dino “I sabotaged Dune” DeLaurentis bury the corpse.
Christopher Guest, aka Mr. Jamie Lee Curtis, also seems kind of sketchy.
