Best supplements?

submitted by LeoFranksGhost to AskUpgoat 1 dayJun 13, 2025 16:01:23 ago (+6/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

Hey there everyone. I have been meaning to ask this for a while, but I was going to start taking some daily supplements/vitamins and was wondering what y'all recommended. I'm a thirty-something year old guy. I usually get plenty of sun most of the year as far as vitamin D goes. I try to eat paleo-ish when I can, but don't always eat that much food overall. I feel pretty good most of the time and haven't been to a doctor or hospital or anything in like ten years so there's nothing specifically wrong, but as I'm getting older what would be the most beneficial stuff to take? I keep hearing everyone rave about magnesium but I see like five different types floating around. Heard people mention iodine as well, collagen or something like it for skin, hair, and nails. What about brain health? Think I would be better off just taking a high-quality multi-vitamin?

Sorry for all the rambling just have no clue where to start and don't want to waste money and/or start taking something that will give me negative effects.

Thanks, have a wonderful day and fuck the jews.

Mushrooms. Not the trippy kind, actually yeah those too, but lion's mane, rishi, shittaki, and cordycept. Turns your brain on. Ever had one of those days where you drop everything you pick up, or lose your train of thought multiple times? Yeah, those mushrooms fix that shit.

Lions mane gives me great dreams. Anaracitam and peracitam (racitam family- there are lots) also help with recall.

Viagra 3x a day.

Selenium is a good antioxidant and one or two brazil nuts a day will provide the right amount. Brazil nut is probably a healthier source than a selenium pill.

I don’t agree with high iodine supplementations because it can trigger hashimoto’s hypothyroidism in some people (like me!) who are predisposed to autoimmunity. But they say that selenium offsets that issue, so if you supplement iodine, take it with selenium.

Regarding magnesium — yes I think its one of the better supplements to invest in. Good for brain, heart, immunity, blood sugar. Different forms have different absorption rates and different uses.

Magnesium oxide is useless for anything except treating constipation. Virtually no absorption into the bloodstream. Often used in cheap multivitamins.

Magnesium glycinate is very good and easy to find in the drug store. Good absorption, reasonable price. Has glycine which supposedly helps with sleep and relaxation if you take it at bed time. I just take it whenever, it doesn’t slow me down.

Magnesium citrate is another common form which has moderate absorption but also relieves constipation so its not all being absorbed from the bowel. Maybe a happy compromise if you have constipation but also want to raise magnesium levels.

Theres an expensive form called magnesium threonate/magtein which crosses the blood brain barrier and is thought to be “nootropic” (improving cognition)

Magnesium orotate and magnesium malate are two forms that I believe are supposed to be energizing.

Magnesium taurate is supposed to be calming like the glycinate.

Theres a topical form you can get in a lotion called magnesium chloride. I just bought some for the first time. Its supposed to have good absorption through the skin. You can also put epsom salts in your bath and get the same effect.

Adrenochrome supposedly works wonders.
But you need to know a Clinton or Spielberg, or Zuckerberg…..

Collagen you’re going to get from eating fatty beef. Helena answered the magnesium question well. If you’re not eating beef liver, consider copper as it is void from the soil. I take iodine daily. 800mg of magnesium glycinate and 200mg of magnesium citrate at night.

Avoid tap water as it contains atrazine. Find a doctor or clinic that can run a full blood panel and look for any outliers. If not for blood work, I never would have know that ferritin accumulates in men eventually killing us. Was able to remedy my ferritin through phlebotomy.

I’d skip a multivitamin and find freeze dried beef liver and organs.

Viagra is fun but it doesn’t make you horny at all. Purely a physiological effect. I can feel my sinuses dilate and feel stuffy when it starts to kick in. Strange drug, still. Very dissapointed it has no mental effects like Hollywood would make it seem.

15mg of dextroamphetanine is like a cup of coffee that works all day. Would only ever recommend it if you were sick or couldn’t sleep and have a very important day ahead. I would avoid such addictive drugs. Friend gave me a few capsules and I reduced them to smaller doses to try. But with a strict carnivore diet, I see absolutely no need for such stimulants. Lisdexamphetamine in 10mg doses had a very calming dopaminergic effect. Felt like a businessman.

A supplement called 1-Carboxy induced vivid dreams. That’s all it does. I call them nightmare pills. Don’t waste your time.

L-Theanine is a nootropic supplement and, in my experience, it does jack shit. Same for Carnitine.

I would avoid taking zinc as it tanks copper. If you are taking zinc, you’ll need to supplement copper.

Dude just eat high quality foods that are NOT highly processed, or GMO. If you need to stack a certain vitamin, or mineral then find a whole food that has what you need in large quantities.

15000 mg of B12 woke me up and made me feel great.
5htp is great for brain regulation - it was a lifesaver for me.
Choline helps build brain. Also fat.
Fenugreek will increase T, I take maybe 3 of them. It takes 24 hrs to feel.
Omega 3 is good for your brain but I don't feel anything.
Lionsmane is great.
Others you mentioned are good too.

Curious to the 5htp. Will investigate.

I still remember the first time i took it. It was the first time I felt happy in like 5 years. Daniel amen(I think) did a lot of speaking about it. It is similar to an anti-depressant but doesn't fuck up your brain.

Omega 3 from fish (dha+epa), Creatine, Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin D/C, NMN, Berberine, Curcumin. Fast for 4-5 days once or twice per year to clear your guts.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1 dayJun 13, 2025 16:40:56 ago (+0/-0)

Agree on the omega 3. There are vegetarian sources of DHA/EPA btw.

Vitamin D and Curcumin/turmeric are good.
