Cop gave him one ticket when he could have given him two tickets. 'I didn't deem it necessary to give you two'.
Now because of this guy, cop will know never to give anyone a break on tickets but give the whole lot - just to cover his ass for next time at traffic court.
BTW SCOTUS have repeatedly ruled LEO's do not have to explicitly know all the laws they are tasked with enforcing.
Cop seemed a little too polite in my experience as an previous road using asshat, off the top of my head he should have just stuck with something like - 'All vehicles operated on the road need to comply with all the applicable vehicle codes of the State to be lawful' - Ergo you lacked an inspection sticker and a valid registration therefore your vehicle was unlawful and not in compliance and should not have been on the road until it was'.
Rather, we get this guy reducing it all down too - 'you gave me the wrong ticket, i should have had two'.
However, any defense that is successful is basically a win. What was the outcome?.
Curious if the guy had his vehicle inspected and registered before this appearance.
