Any recommended AI image generators?

submitted by bobdole9 to AskGoats 14 hoursJun 7, 2025 13:31:29 ago (+11/-1)     (AskGoats)

I am a luddite. I finally have a reason to make something intricate with AI, however I have no idea which to use.

It seems "free" means you get to create an account. Its not a dealbreaker, just not ideal. Maybe I'm not stumbling on the ones that are free and without account creation.

Is there any online tools anyone would recommend? My goal is to not make something on my local machine, rather use what other nerds have already built.

There are mainstream options -

Microsoft's Image Generator - https://designer.microsoft.com/image-creator
You have to create a Microsoft account.
It's free but you only get 15 uses per month. It gives you 4 images per description.

Bing's Copilot - https://copilot.microsoft.com
No account needed.
It uses the same image generator. You have unlimited uses. But it only gives you one image per description.
You have to specifically tell it to create an image, and what you want it to be.

Opera's Aria AI
Download the Opera browser, and the Aria AI is built in.
No account needed. Unlimited uses.
Again, tell it to create an image, and it will.

Google's Gemini - https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_chat
You have to log in with a Google account.
On the right side of the screen, make sure you switch it to "Gemini 2.0 Flash Preview Image Generation".
It's free right now, but probably won't stay free.

On Google's Gemini - Once it makes your image, you can tell it to change or adjust specific things in that image.
All of the others I listed - You can't edit any of the images it creates. If you don't like what it created, you have to change your wording, and it'll create a brand new image from scratch.

Seems Opera will finally have a use!

https://pinokio-home.netlify.app/

If you can a powerful enough machine to run it, using pinokio, install, https://pinokio-home.netlify.app/item?uri=https://github.com/pinokiofactory/Frame-Pack

If not, they have lots of other tools, hit or miss on whether they install or work. Frame-Pack is amazing, on a RTX 5700 it can animate a 5 second video in 4 or 5 minutes, it will do videos up to 2 minutes long. It runs locally, there are no restrictions to copyright or anything else.

I am a luddite

My last build was from 2014. Pretty good back then...probably not enough for real rendering.

If I have a business purpose behind it though, might need to get a parts list together.

Sweet info bro. Thank you! Going to give it a shot. I have a decent pc with a mild card but my son has a pretty bitchin gaming one that he built.

Thank you! Seems this will be a good start. Will need to poke around to see if I can get higher resolution renders.

They have a lot more than the single generator, https://perchance.org/generators

Install Forge Web UI

Download sdxl or flux model

Load it up and type what you want.

Will it be useful enough to take a classic painting, manipulate it, and spit the manipulated painting out?

[ - ] Niggly_Puff 2 points 12 hoursJun 7, 2025 15:11:08 ago (+2/-0)

Absolutely. You will have more control than anything you could pay for. You need at least a 4gb graphics card though for SDXL.

Will it function on a good setup...from 2014? I'll need to look up what graphics card it even has. Might have 4gb...

Yeah it should.

I believe now with capcut you can make free images with the exception being that is will have a watermark. I used the capcut one for my conspiritard upgoat moderator interview practice vid. I have the paid version but i see where it says free with watermark.
