Its hard to underestimate what an impact this had on education. High IQ women used to go into nursing and teaching. Now they go to work for corporations and low IQ women do the teaching
International students that come to the US are wealthy and/or near top tier for their country. There's a reason why they seek education the US. There are talented students in the US as well and you would see them if you were into academia. My guess is you're not.
In those cultures math is seen as a gateway to a good paying career and status. This is unbelievably important when your parents were living hand-to-mouth in some dirt poor town or when you are one of a million other grasping faces in some large city-slum.
Accordingly there is a lot of competition for spots in the universities for math and related fields. You get a spot if you do well in exams. And you do well in exams by studying like an absolute muther fuker.
In north america everyone was spoiled post WW2 and has never had to learn the lessons that abject poverty and not having enough to eat teaches one. Hence the change of focus from 'hard' learning to the humanities and psychology and other BS disciplines. There's a place for that crap, of course, but since the 60s they have taken over both in the universities and in popular culture.
It was all fueled by cultural marxism, of course, but that's a different discussion.
Long story short: If your name is Ping Pong or Carlos or Ganish and you want to get out of the living hell that your disease ridden, swampy, and low status existence is then you study math like your life depends on it.

Now the only way to learn to that level is with smart parents. No TV, no goyslop, no sugar, no corn syrup, few vaccines. No flouride.
Only books, and lots of books. Exercise. Learn to fight.
Then your kids can do this too, without resorting to the Asian work really hard approach.
But just knowing and being able to recall facts doesn't make you and to create what people will trade with you for.
