"Hidden Christians" are dying out, and there is growing certainty that their unique version of Christianity will die with them.

They still chant in a Latin that hasn’t been widely used in centuries.

“I’m not a Christian,” Tanimoto said. Even though some of their Latin chants focus on the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, their prayers are also meant to “ask our ancestors to protect us, to protect our daily lives,” he said. “We are not doing this to worship Jesus or Mary. … Our responsibility is to faithfully carry on the way our ancestors had practised.”

The book "Shogun" by James Clavell has this as one of it's central themes. Incredible book.

Never read the book but saw the miniseries w Richard Chamberlain a few times. Was good, pretty informative. I can kind of see why they outlawed christianity in Japan.,

The book is phenomenal. A true modern classic. I thought the TV series was... "Ok", at least I thought it was as good as they could adapt it for TV back then.

Christian population growth is the population growth of the global Christian community. According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were more than 2.2 billion Christians around the world in 2010, more than three times as many as the 600 million recorded in 1910. However, this rate of growth is slower than the overall population growth over the same time period.[1] In 2020, Pew estimated the number of Christians worldwide to be around 2.38 billion.[2] According to various scholars and sources, high birth rates and conversions in the Global South were cited as the reasons for the Christian population growth.[3][4][5][6][7][8] In 2023, it was reported: "There will be over 2.38 billion Christians worldwide by the middle of 2023 and around 2.9 billion by 2050, according to a report published by the Pew research centre.

Latin is used in some Churches every week.

Foster Klug just hates Christians.

Hymns in Latin is hardly finding the holy grail. I had to sing in Latin at the Marist college I attended, and keep eyes in the back of my head for paedo priests.
