Belgium went without a federal government for years after banning Vlaams Bloc, which later rebranded to Vlaams Belaang and took power, causing another years long shut down.

Basically, whenever whitey got back into power, (((everyone))) stepped in and said "No."

Point being, Belgium has a tax structure that is opposite of the US. The majority of your tax money is for locals, and only a smidgen goes to the top. So, Belgium ran very well without a federal government.

I don't recall much from government in my time in the Netherlands, but I believe it is closer to Belgium in that sense that the US; whose tax pyramid is totally upside down.
