When researchers say "not all Vikings were white", they’re arguably engaging in a kind of bait-and-switch:

They redefine "Viking" from “ethnic Scandinavian” to “anyone buried with Viking goods or in a Viking cultural context,”

Then use that broader definition to suggest that Viking society itself was inherently multicultural.

Its shifting the goalposts while watering down what a Viking is, k own as the "No True Scotsman" fallacy.

It's intellectually dishonest and scientific horseshit.


Everyone shares distant ancestry with all kinds of populations, including Neanderthals and earlier primates.

So pointing out that some Vikings had genes traceable to Southern Europe or Asia doesn’t automatically mean those regions had Viking members, any more than shared DNA with monkeys makes monkeys Vikings.
