A bit reminiscent (to me) of the Last of the Mohicans theme song, but that's not quite the song. Interesting indeed, and a bit familiar sounding.

That's a mandola she's playing. Same setup as a mandolin with eight strings, tuned like a violin. It's larger and has a deeper tone though. If you like that kind of music look up Irish jigs and reels. If you just like mandolin look up Chris Thile, Sierra Hull, or Ricky Skaggs.

That's awesome, thanks! I'll definitely check out more Mike Marshall, his music is new to me. Saw Thile a few years ago playing with the Punch Brothers, killer show. He looks so young in that video, but dude shreds.

Mike Marshall/Darol Anger is a rabbit hole. The only thing I don't love is some new agey shit they got into in the 80s, but the vast majority is badass craziness. Just avoid the band "Montreux".

I was trying to figure that out.
I have a hard time playing the mandolin because it’s small size..
I’m used to my 5string bass and occasionally an upright…

I think I want to get one of those. I love the beefy sound.
