Brylcreem For Hair Styling

submitted by GrayDragon to ConSoomProduct 1 dayMay 28, 2025 00:39:16 ago (+7/-0)     (ConSoomProduct)

I saw some goat mention this and I believe at least one other backed him up. Since I am growing my hair long, I figured I would buy some to try it out. This styling cream (or whatever it is) is great! It is minimally greasy, holds hair well, and is not expensive.

You should grow a mullet.

My hair is going to be a mullet if i ever decide to get rid of the long lusciousness, except Ill just shave the mullet in and keep the length. Probably be the greatest mullet ever mulletted honestly as my hair goes halfway down my back right now.

Just use oil. Batana oil works great. So does olive oil. I have some creams and pomades and I'd rather just put a smidgen of batana oil.

Banana oil sounds stinky

Horse hair matresses are more expensive

The problem with pomades and such from my experience are two-fold: 1. They are oil or petroleum-based and thus do not let the scalp breathe. 2. When the scalp gets hot and is sealed up like that, you're a breeding ground for fungus. From growing up around Blacks, whenever you see them scratch at their wig or doorag, it is usually because there is something fungal going on under there due to the heat and compression. I use gel, which is slightly less constricting, but drying so it is still not optimal. The best thing to use is probably mousse or conditioner. Anything you put in your hair should be washed out regularly, though.

Yeah, I also agree using like a leave in conditioner is probably the best option.

Why not go full grandpa and pick up some pomade.

Fair warning tho, youll trigger ol TV john if you get too close.

Does it look greasy?

Slick is the word, no so much greasy.

My Father use to wear it it all the time when i was a kid, the smell of it (which is pretty pleasant tbh) brings back memories of childhood.
