The best thing about the 80s

Being able to do shit without being recorded. I used to ride my bike in my driveway and pretend I was a horseback mail carrier in the old west. I had really long drawn out conversations with myself on this long country driveway in Ohio's Amish country. I'd spend all day doing this, riding back and forth. Was I retarded? Maybe. Really we are so lucky, those of us who got a childhood before mass surveillance.

Having grown up in the 80s and 90s. They were good times. Especially in the Midwest. I could be out at any hour and not get harassed by anyone.

Yeah I think we grew up in the golden era of America before 9/11. It wasn't perfect but it was a good time to be a kid, teen, or young adult.

Golden era was the 1850s before the Civil war 90% plus of America was rural and self sustaining not under the thumb of the goverment... the jew had not taken over the federal goverment had very limited power... and blacks were not an issue yet.

Instead of fighting the civil war all white males should have got together and said we will not kill each other for niggers we will work together ship them back to Africa all to Liberia and we will help liberia...

At the same time the right for only white males would have been written in stone infused with blood and would never be allowed to be changed period any one attempting to change that rule would be drawn and quarter.

Immigration would have been 100% ended you could get some type of permanent resident status but your kids would not be citizens

Interracial marriage would have been permanently outlawed if you just had to mix you could leave the country

I'm sure there are many other improvements we basically live in hell now thanks to the greatest generation

It was for me for sure. 98% white town there about. Nuclear family, cheap groceries, good video games. Loads of buddies that skateboarded. Plenty of ladies wanted to hang to since skateboarders were the baddy guys back then. And funny thing was were really weren't that awful.

Most importantly no phones. Kids went outside and did things. Or sometimes you just went to the mall, or Best Buy, or somewhere else to walk around and piss away time.

If I had to pin the decline on three things it'd be:

9/11 - people started giving up their freedoms in the name of security, nation got dragged into stupid wars that achieved nothing
Facebook - beginning of the end of the internet
smartphones - mass retardation unleashed

good video games

Man, games were so good back in those days. Then they turned to uninspired shit full of microtransactions and DLC packs that didn't compare to expansion packs in the 90s. In the 90s the geeks and developers were the ones running the companies. Their ambition was crazy and if it didn't always work (e.g. John Romero's Daikatana) you could appreciate the efforts. Then the business fags came in, pushed out the nerds, and started focusing everything purely on maximizing profit at the expense of the creativity and vision.

I agree. Phones back then when I got my first cellular were good for calling. Texting as a fucking hassle.

I turned 18 on 911. All I could say at the time was fuck. This isn't gonna be good. Already had a deep anti establishment/govt mind without having access to the web now. Jus over zealous cops fucking with us for skating on the roads in our neighborhood. Always suspect the law wasn't there to help and avoid them.

Games yes, were generally great. I remember when metal gear solid dropped having to ask around or wait for a magazine to give insights on how to beat Mantis. Reading controller ports and memory cards was fucking insane. GTA2 was a favorite. Once game publishers started getting traded publicly it was all over. THPS did this big time.

I wish I could say it were good for me but sadly I cannot. I grew up in a strict, abusive home and pretty much missed all that was awesome about that time period. Teenage years through your early 20s are supposed to be the best time of one's life but not for me.

My father is already in Hell and my evil mother will be joining him at some point and I have no problem saying that.

Grew up 80s/90s right next to the end of a concrete drainage ditch that ran across most of the town. I had a nearly unbroken path that provided quick travel to any main thoroughfare. Only traffic would be other kids, some creeps, and dogs.

I'd often leave my bike just at the entrance of blocks long storm drains and go spelunking. Kids would try to fight sometimes, but they never screwed with other kids' bikes around here.

Found tons of porn in all the nooks and crannies of the ditch system and its drainage area.

Yea, loved the 70's and 80's as a kid. Although i have lasting memories of very rarely ever having new store brought clothing (was a third of four kids so i got hand me downs of hand me downs) plus most stuff i wore was either half a size too small or a size too big - so i remember always being uncomfortable or cold or draughty in winter - cause nothing fitted right. lol.
Plus our home in winter was cold AF other than the lounge/ living area with open fire and baking in the stove. Go from nice and toasty to ice box to gho to bed or the bathroom.


So great times butlokking back i was often hardened to the cold out of necessity.
