All the guns I like to shoot now are illegal.

submitted by SocksOnCats to TellUpgoat 5 hoursMay 22, 2025 10:31:13 ago (+8/-0)     (TellUpgoat)

I own some land out of state, in a place with very relaxed gun laws. When I go there, I pretty much do what I want and have fun.

Today, my best friend and I are going to the local-ish range, in the state where I currently reside. He wants to sight in some new toys. I've been busy with other life things, so as I'm looking over my own stock of firearms, I'm seeing not too much I want to take to this range, and most of which would be frowned upon.

I can't wait to move to the other state. About another year. With luck, I'll have some roads cut and campground set up on the land I own a bit later this year.

Gun laws are terrible.

No. Shit.

Sadly, none of us are. We need to work harder on that.

There's no habitable land on the surface that's not claimed.

You can still homestead alaska

Alaska is claimed by the United States. Yes, you can live there, but you can't claim the land as your own.

I met a homesteader in Idaho way back. He homesteaded a piece of land in the middle of nothing right out of high school, with a huge lava tube opening in his backyard. You could drive an 18 wheeler through the part of that thing I saw. He said it was a couple miles long in total.

Yea but you get to keep it if you build a struxture there and reside on it for a few years? In alaska at least? I dont know about idaho

No, volcanic islands are generally not "free for the taking" in the sense that anyone can simply claim and own them. While some volcanic islands are uninhabited or sparsely populated, they are still considered territories and, in many cases, sovereign nations. International law recognizes claims to territory based on historical, geographical, and other factors, and volcanic islands are often part of existing territorial boundaries.

Not even brand new volcanic islands are unclaimed. The only possibility is some kind of unusual territorial legal issues that would mistakenly disavow a piece of land along a border. Even then, an attempt to claim something like a river island between two countries would quickly be shut down. Note how even the walled city in China on 'unclaimed' land was eventually taken back.

To claim land as your own, you must have a stronger military (or scheme) than the other claimants. See Russia.

"Going to the range" Aka: Stepping out onto my back porch.

(Note: I learned early on that when I "go to the range" it's a good idea to announce it loudly to the entire household first. Just a matter of being polite. Wife might be putting on makeup or doing something in the kitchen when I crank off the first round.)

From a liability/safety standpoint, a safe direction and a dirt berm helps.
The key point is that you know what the final resting point of the bullet will be when you fire it.

All my bullets are like my punches. Lethal

All gun laws are infringements.

Awws you must be in commiecolorado. Polis the fag just signed off banning ANY firearm with a detachable mag. Uhhh that leaves a revolver or shotgun your ALLOWED in your possession.

Not in colorado.

I live in commie-fucking-land, and my gun range don't give a fuck what you bring.

I have pistols with extended mags showing, I have full 30 round mags for the AR. They don't look at what I brought or give anything a once-over. All they ask is: 1) You use range ammo (no defense rounds) and 2) No full auto. Haven't tried anything bigger than a 44 mag, assuming they'd not like a 50 cal. Just don't be a nigger and you're good--do the normal White man shit.

Yeah, a while back things were a bit lax. But these days I don't trust it.

There is only one valid gun law in the US.

Anyone who owns guns and does/has done nothing to enforce that deserves to have them taken away.

Kill your self.

Anyone who's 'allowed' to own guns has either lived a sneaky or compliant life. Congratulations if it's the former.

Dont let a felony stop you!

[ - ] Sector2 0 points 20 minutesMay 22, 2025 15:12:43 ago (+0/-0)

Agreed, but I've been identifying as a non-incarcerated person for so long it's become my real self.
