Email as a form of electronic communication is outdated.

submitted by CoronaHoax to TellUpgoat 8 hoursMay 21, 2025 21:38:55 ago (+2/-1)     (TellUpgoat)

1. There is no form of encryption. This alone makes it obsolete garbage. Absolute shit useless garbage. Absolutely no, single fucking one should be able to read a message you send except the recipient period. This is already solved plainly for websites.

2. There should be a method for modifying emails you've already sent. It's fine that they obviously will be able to see past revisions. But not being able to edit at all is a complete deal breaker. Emailing is complete garbage because of this.

"There is no form of encryption"

Learn what a one time pad is and use them.

"There should be a method for modifying emails"

'Unsend' works for a good 2 minutes or so on abput 6 of the major email platforms. But how about just getting it right in the first place.

If youve sent shit then regret it, thats 100% a you problem.

"Homing pigeons" are the most secure method of messaging...the pigeons have to be kept hungry though, their feeding spot is where they always return to and the only "windows" in the system are the ones that birds are constantly flying in to.

in ww1 they used them, they got shot sometimes, fell to the ground, and the 'secret message' wasn't secret anymore

I believe most communications are encrypted while in transit.

And people are doing their email on google and Microsoft servers.

But for what it is supposed to do, it does it well. I wouldn’t dare switch to something more complicated.

In transit to the email server sure. But it's plain text on the email server. Peak unacceptable.

You can encrypt emails dude.
Every heard of PGP?

Clearly not.

Microsoft google amd i think proton all have an unsend feature.

An interesting ideological position. I love email communication. Hate using telephones and get mightily pissed off with people who feel the need to hear my voice.

I've found if I've only ever known someone through text, I have no problem knowing them through voice or in person later. But If I've only ever known them through in person or voice, then switching to text is a complete disaster. I need the voice / in person ques / feedback. Otherwise I have no fucking clue what their silences mean etc, how they took what I said etc. It always goes to shit fast. And I don't see any reason why it's my fault, I talk as completely normal with them as I would otherwise. Like I said texting is fine if that's how I first knew them.

Has it's uses for work where you need cohesive and universal communication.
