UnitedHealth Shares Drop After Report Reveals Secret Bonus Payments To Nursing Homes For Cutting Hospital Transfers

UnitedHealth Group shares dropped as much as 7.5% in premarket trading Wednesday in New York, following a Guardian investigation that revealed the health insurer shelled out "Premium Dividend" and "Shared Savings" bonuses to nursing homes that reduced hospital transfers for sick residents

Here are some of the key findings from the report:

UnitedHealth stationed in-house medical teams at nearly 2,000 nursing homes, incentivizing them to lower hospitalizations through financial rewards like "Premium Dividend" and "Shared Savings" payments tied to hospitalization rates.

Internal records show UnitedHealth monitored nursing homes using "admits per thousand (APK)" metrics and set "budgets" for hospitalizations. Facilities with high APKs were denied bonuses.

In multiple documented cases, patients were denied urgent hospital care, leading to serious harm, including permanent brain damage. Whistleblowers say these incidents were hidden or minimized.

Nurse practitioners were pressured to push "Do Not Resuscitate" (DNR) orders, even when patients had previously expressed the desire for life-saving treatments.

UnitedHealth also incentivized increased enrollment in its Institutional Special Needs Plans by offering large payments to nursing homes, which in some cases leaked confidential patient data to help sales teams directly solicit families—often bypassing consent rules.

these ppl are murderers

Agreed. Murder.

We have an entire sect of the professional population who is at once:
- above reproach (hey you're not a doctor are you?)
- in a position of life and death power over all they survey
- untrustworthy
- money crazy
- potentially deranged
- indifferent to suffering and death of anyone who isn't them
- tired of you asking questions

We are not safe.

As someone that has had to care for the health of others: it's really fucking tiring. It's easy to become indifferent to other's mortality.

they do alllll kinds of unsavory shit...

Stay away from doctors and hospitals.

They are all just businesses like used car salesmen.

The idea they are anything more is what let's the industry get away with do much.

How did you recover from sepsis? I hear it's bad, but I refuse to believe it's a death sentence.

I guarantee this is being done by others as well.

Also large doctor groups penalize the doctor members of they don't keep their patients on the average level of drugs. It can be thousands at the end of the year.

The one thing it doesn't say is how long this has been going on.

my best guess is for a looong time. what you are seen here is a systemic killing machine. they poison our foods, they inject us with more poison and finally they will kill us for money at the hospitals. i bet that all the deaths from " covid" in the hospitals were actually murders.

it all started when they started to call a baby a fetus.

Needs to be criminal convictions and family members need to sue.

Seems this company will be out of business soon.

This is not surprising in the least. Medicare/caid does similar and worse.

The problem is insurance.

When my mom went on Medicare hospice coverage, I got a real eye full of their MO. They were absolutely trying to “hurry her along” to an earlier death and they got kickbacks for it. They tried to push us into some legal contract that would take our rights to request additional medical care for my mom if she was incapable of making her own decision— into the hands of the physicians. I was like, “ why would we sign away our right to make that decision as family members? LIke, how is that in our interest?” They were like, “ it just takes the stress of decision making away”. People actually buy that line. We told them, fuck no!

They also tried to starve my mother and put her on morphine when she had refused it multiple times. They (hospice nurses) were angry with us when we insisted she got enough calories and no morphine. Later I realized that was their key tools for euthanasia.

Why is euthanasia so bad? I have family that has received heroic medical care. It has allowed her to survive and discover the joys of dumb candy crush clones. I think about how many nurses struggled to help her so she could blow up digital pixels!

euthanasia its immoral because only your creator can take away your life from you. suicide and euthanasia were used to frown upon and now its celebrated. no, we should celebrate life not death
