from the comments: >A company I worked for was involved in training up farmers in Tanzania. We sponsored tools, seed and labour. For 5 years, we worked the fields with them. We supplied seed, planted, grew, harvested, kept fresh seed from the crops for the next year, and cycled again. Then with year 6, we left them. Year 7, all the tools were gone, the farms were dead and no seed was around. When we asked what happened, their response was simply: "We ate the seed. You can bring us more seed and new tools". This broke my heart and taught me what these people's attitudes are towards these things. This was not the only country where we operated in either. Every single place in Africa that we worked in was a failure. Chile on the other hand flourished. Truth remains truth, no matter how much you hate it.
