It's hard to say, you don't put jackholes in charge of a multimillion dollar boat. These mayheekanz had to be somewhat proficient at operating it. High tide/low tide comes into play with something like this.

I saw something about a tug boat and the sailing ship drifting backwards. I think that is where this will end up. A broken line.

It looks like they are taking off from the old Fulton Fish Market location. They often have replica boats there as it's a tourist hub. Also a ferry landing with a lot of wake and very windy, choppy conditions.

Lost power, but was headed for the bridge at high speed? Story is incompatible with the video we just watched.

Not a boating expert I see. Ship lost engine power. Usually several sources of power on ships. You can easily lose power to propulsion and have battery power to electrics. Also, sails aren't used in manoeuvring, only open water and sails we're deployed
