We have these at my work. They DO have a carbon filter for "taste" but even then, there's a small PCB board that can be reset to show it "new" instead of having to replace the filter. Most places don't waste the time or money.

What kind of filter is used in the built-in filtered water? What does the filter remove from the water?

its a high use on demand filter

ro takes time and requires a tank

it would have to be the size of a vending machine to RO at such high demand. see grocery store RO machines for example

$120 filter from amazon will RO water. And when the tank is empty it won't pour anything.
