Pope Leo XIV’s maternal grandfather, Joseph Martínez, was a Haitian-born cigar maker who was classified as Black in the 1900 census. His wife, Louise Baquié, a native of New Orleans, descended from a blend of African, French, and Spanish ancestry — hallmarks of the city’s vibrant and historically rich Afro-Creole community.
This pope is “vibrant” . His dad was french and italian.
He's a guy where the race as a social construct narrative looms large. He doesn't look black and he doesn't have the lived experience of anything but a white guy. Being minimally Cuban can also mean little non-white admixture and possibly no Indian. Cubans are some of the whitest of Latin Americans - but they are rarely truly white either.
He may have other suspect ancestry too. A lot of it is 'Spanish'. On both sides. Stay tuned.
"The Americans will have to decide whether they want a white America or whether they want to make the choice of their President ever more a question of additional concessions toward mulattoisation. In the latter case, the United States of America, in a few centuries, will go the way of Greece and Rome; and the Catholic Church, which even today has black bishops, will be the pacemaker." - Rosenberg from his memoirs in 1946
Will add that Prevost's recent statements on refugees/immigrants featured in this thread, but not abortion, are virtually identical to the views of Congregationalist and Methodist female ministers I have attended services of in the last few months. The Methodist is also a dyke. The Congregationalist is of course the United Church of Christ, which I may attend again this Sunday, and her parishioners are, I'd estimate, 1/3 LGBTQ or however many letters it is now.

~80% south european on average. Cubans are the whitest people in the carribbean.
I think his dad was straight white ( if you count italian as white).

This fails to note the 'Spanish' on his paternal side.
Robert Francis Prevost. The nigger pope. How quaint.
