Isn't listening to something the opposite of focus?

Did some quick reading. Music only works with studying when it's wrote procedural stuff. If doing deep work it's only a hinderment. Programming should always be deep work.

Not to be a downer but I'm further along than you. I used to think I was a master of everything years ago. Now I know I never will be. You could be working deeper. If what you are working with isn't a challenge you aren't learning enough and you will fall behind working only with the stuff you can do in your sleep.

I'm not saying programming has to be insanely hard. There are people who think it does. But there is a frontier for what you can do and it's further if you are focused.

Software is so bullshit in that you have to keep relearning everything because a bunch of aholes just want to keep remaking everything. Let’s f’ing standardize people. It’s embarrassing to be decades into an industry and still be effectively a noob in it.
