I guess, pretty sure its an imperfect estimate that expects the person to be fit and doing proper pushups I weigh 180 and I can do pushups. If I couldnt bench 150 I think I would cry.
I do a variation of a diamond pushup on closed fists that are placed together so the bottom of my ribcage touches my wrists in the lowered position. I spread my legs to make a stable triangle. I've never checked, but I doubt my toes are supporting more than twenty pounds.
