Did the amount of carbon per plant increase? As in, each tree now holds more carbon than previously thought? That just means that burning that tree releases more CO2. The amount of carbon per plant should be easily measurable.
Or did they find 31% more plants? Where are these plants? What is their life cycle? When do these new plants release CO2 to the atmosphere upon death? Or is it more methane now due to bacterial decomposition?
So many questions should be asked rather than just taking that number as true.
