Carney had the advantage of being an unknown and, since none of the large media outlets bothered to inform anyone about Carney's dubious actions while Governor of the Bank of England or even of the stated goals in his own book, it was easy to sell him as a promising new future for Canada.

Trudeau -- not his disastrous legacy -- was the single biggest millstone around the Liberal's neck. Once they quickly and quietly swept him under the rug it was both expedient and smart to leverage Carney to stay in power.

That coupled with the bull-in-a-china-shop that is Trump meant that Poilievre never really had a chance. Maybe next time, but frankly Canadians are so fucking stupid I doubt it.

Possibly, but i think Canadians by an large are just dumb. Carney put a "pause" one the carbon tax, so gas at the pumps is cheaper again. So Canadians see that and think liberals are the good guys again and vote for them. Forgetting all the shitty things the liberals did during the pandemic.
And the population replacement with shit skinns is quite high as well.
