Brief Hike through the Woods Yesterday

The combination of sunshine, warmth, great sleep, carnivorous diet, plenty of electrolytes, and the beautiful peaceful forest was a massive flood of dopamine and endorphins. My happy straight-edge ass felt like I was on drugs (the fun kind that make you feel good) and I had a shit eating grin on my face just walking through nature.

Dopaminergic urges are what call us to seek adventure and want to explore. It’s like being a little kid just having a fun time venturing about. It is the same drive and inner voice that calls us to build, craft, and explore.

No niggers out here. Just very friendly European-blooded brothers and sisters. It’s in these moments, I desire most to be a father.

I have this odd feeling like neither of you actually walked in a forest. Dead and dying trees are everywhere.

And... people also mismanage their property all over the nation.

That wood has been downed for years. Responsible property owners either do controlled burns every 2-3 years, or remove the wood to burn it elsewhere.

You have most likely been on long neglected public land.

I was having a semi-mental breakdown at one point. I decided, fuck it, and took a walk at 6 AM-ish in a forest just after a light rain. I became immediately addicted to walking in forests. It truly had a massively positive influence on my mental state.

This forest preserve has a few hills.

I figured a hike is like a long walk through nature. Not sure of the exact definition.
