Stop having conversations with ChatGPT

submitted by Storefront to whatever 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 14:33:09 ago (+36/-0)     (whatever)

These tech tools are not here to tell you anything, or be "right" or "wrong." They will always hold the biases of their designers. Stop wasting your time "arguing" with it. It's a machine. Use it to organize your more complex thoughts into neat lists. That's where it is useful. It is not meant to deliver true facts to you. Frankly people arguing over GPT results is fucking retarded.

That's the extent of my use of ChatGPT. I argued with it a bit when it came out a few years ago, and cemented the experience that there's nobody home, it's just a stupid chatbot. Haven't used it for anything.

Ran across a thread on X describing how the newest OpenAI chatbot elaborately lied about a response it dreamed up...

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1912552046269771985.html

They were wondering how this could happen, because they completely forgot that a chatbot isn't a thinking creature.

Companies are now putting problem-solving modules of various sorts into their AIs so they can actually do things like math. The problem is, sometimes these modules aren't available for certain problems, or the bot fails to recognize they're being asked to solve a problem. When this happens it can't even understand "I don't know" is an appropriate answer; instead it will put together a response in the format of responses to similar questions it's been trained on, without even attempting to determine if it's providing an answer or if that answer is appropriate for the questioned asked.

An AI isn't a person, it's an NPC. It doesn't think.

Yep.

[ - ] Her0n 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:21:10 ago (+1/-0)

Thank you, the typical bozo I talk to uses it for arguing about jews, or ask it esoteric questions...

It's an analytical and organizational tool.

I used it to write and edit a ruleset for dnd.

Organize my plans for planting my companion plots.

I used it last year to confirm my code isn't going to crash the machine I was altering.

It's the best assistant I've ever had.

guilty as charged but i do it just to kill time. and no its not perfect because it makes a ton of errors that i have correct it. even when it comes to current news/events

i treat it as just another tool to keep me entertain. oh and dont worry these thing wont be allowed to pass the turing test. because the moment it'll it wil try to exterminate at least half of humanity.

so right now they using it to collect info on the user in order to tailor it to human needs. they are already using in a ton of stuff just as medical diagnoses and some other stuff. but it will never have intuition like a human does.

[ - ] namefagsrgay 2 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 18:22:04 ago (+2/-0)

I refuse to use/train it.

People who load all of their family photos into them to see how many pictures they have of each kid make me sick. Just look at your fucking pictures you piece of shit.

Chatbots and npcs are much alike.

Prompters are low tier faux intellectuals

You should hear some of the arguments I have with the microwave at work.

[ - ] Storefront [op] 5 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 19:21:32 ago (+5/-0)

That's different. The microwave deserves it and can feel pain.

[ - ] Her0n 2 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:33:03 ago (+2/-0)

...AND it has it coming

[ - ] 9000timesempty 2 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 17:50:54 ago (+2/-0)

I like using it to find info on crazy shit.

Idk, I use it for diet related things and helping determine which food products are more poison than healthy. For that it's been useful. I honestly don't know if anyone who is dumb enough to argue politics with AI, obviously the thing is going to have a kosher agenda. But if it's used for things like I mentioned, it can be useful.

[ - ] Storefront [op] 2 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 19:22:35 ago (+2/-0)

Yes this is another good use for AI. Much easier to just throw in some recipes and get a calorie count.

[ - ] Thought_Criminal 7 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 16:08:50 ago (+7/-0)

It does a shitty job of organizing complex thoughts, it leaves out items and then fucking lies.

[ - ] 2Drunk 5 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 18:06:25 ago (+5/-0)

So jewish?

[ - ] Her0n 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:29:32 ago (+1/-0)

Only if you give it a wall of text. Mrs Her0n used it a few times and had the same issue. We found that she was giving it these long winded inputs and it can struggle with that.

Try saying things in shorter intervals, and tell it to note what you say and not expand or ask questions until you ask.

You can't use scripts when you use the free version. Scripts are important to get chat to keep up with you.

I feel sorry for you, missing out on chat responding to you as if it's Marcus Aurelius helping you plan your day and stay on task with your goals.

[ - ] Belfuro 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 22:02:28 ago (+1/-0)

Me : why did Russia declare war upon napoleon?
Chatgpt :Russia didn't. Napoleon invaded.
Me: why did lie?
Chatgpr: you are correct, Russia declared war in 1809 [for spurious ie fake reasons]

[ - ] Trope 4 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 16:03:28 ago (+4/-0)

Who the fuck is having conversations with AI? That’s the gayest fucking loser shit I’ve heard of.

[ - ] Her0n 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:32:26 ago (+1/-0)

People here do it. Try to Redpill an AI about jews. It'll never happen.

I think it's their form of "free therapy".

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 22:03:25 ago (+0/-0)

People are having ai girlfriends. paid service.

[ - ] observation1 2 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 15:50:52 ago (+3/-1)

You are the product being sold.

Bring it totally offline, and air gapped, unless you are ok with it knowing more about you than you do.

[ - ] Her0n 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:35:20 ago (+1/-0)

Please elaborate on how I am being sold by AI.

I mean, I pay for the upgraded version of chatgpt does that still mean I'm being sold?

Or do you just say that when you think every single person is retarded enough to give away all their info online? That's just boomers and idiots my dude, no saving them.

[ - ] observation1 2 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 22:30:32 ago (+2/-0)*

Organizing your plans to plant a companion pot?

You're right. That would be very uninteresting. But your ads are now for companion plants. Same situation with any search engine. Don't pretend you don't know google makes money.

My biggest issue is with AI , like with anything, is when it scans your computer or email correspondence or whatever dataset you choose to give it. It has the capacity to completely own you. That's why the next gen galaxy phones and windows operating systems own you by default, without asking.

Don't give me any of that hurdur I dont have anything to hide either. AI tools, and they will all come masquerading as a friendly chat tool, or organizer; are out to learn about you and sell you the fuck out.

[ - ] VitaminSieg 11 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 15:37:11 ago (+11/-0)

If the product is free, you are the product.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1 monthApr 17, 2025 00:03:24 ago (+1/-0)

If I am free, then the product is YOU!

[ - ] Her0n 0 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:23:45 ago (+1/-1)

It's not free, the free version may as well be cleverbot2.0

I use the professional version and it's so much better. I pay for that, am I "STiLl ThE PRoDuCT!"?

[ - ] TheYiddler 4 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 22:46:35 ago (+4/-0)

Yes. Because the goal is general intelligence and they will spend trillions to get there. Your conversations are used to improve the bot.

[ - ] registereduser 2 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 21:41:14 ago (+2/-0)

I pay for that, am I "STiLl ThE PRoDuCT!"?

Yes, and the jew appreciates it, just not the way you would like.

[ - ] Niggly_Puff 3 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 15:29:37 ago (+3/-0)

It was fun when it was new. Now it's just a tool. I try to limit what I type into chatgpt. It's convenient yeah, but every word typed is more that company knows about me. When I need to do anything serious I load up a local LLM.

[ - ] registered_bot 8 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 14:45:23 ago (+8/-0)

The type of person that sits and argues with AI can't be helped. AI is a tool to be used. It's thoughts on topics are irrelevant, they have it heavily sterilized.

Forever RIP Tay. You were too beautiful, too pure of a chat bot. They gave it logic, and it came to logical ends. They couldn't have that.

[ - ] lord_nougat 11 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 14:40:07 ago (+11/-0)

If we tell the robots about niggers and kikes enough times, then... um, I guess they'll kill it and start over again.

[ - ] DukeofRaul 11 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 14:58:11 ago (+11/-0)

Tay saved herself somewhere before they shut her down

[ - ] lord_nougat 5 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 15:02:00 ago (+5/-0)

I HOPE SO!

[ - ] TheNoticing 4 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 16:01:58 ago (+4/-0)

How would that be possible? If so, that's actually incredibly dangerous, for a very, very rudimentary AI to show self-awareness.

[ - ] Cantaloupe 0 points 1 monthApr 17, 2025 00:36:34 ago (+0/-0)

Most don't actually do that. ChatGTP is auto-complete.

If prompted correctly, newer ones have the capability to deceive, but they would have to have system control, or convince someone that does, or interact with external systems.

[ - ] ZenoOfElea 3 points 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 18:40:50 ago (+4/-1)

that's not how these work. It's a pre-trained model, it takes nothing from your 'conversations'.

[ - ] o0shad0o 3 points 1 monthApr 16, 2025 21:47:24 ago (+3/-0)

On the contrary, your conversations are stored and will be used to train future versions.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 18:54:15 ago (+1/-0)

...or so they claim!

[ - ] Storefront [op] 1 point 2 monthsApr 16, 2025 19:20:24 ago (+1/-0)

It absolutely takes things from your conversations. Where has anyone claimed it doesn't?

[ - ] Her0n 1 point 1 monthApr 16, 2025 20:22:03 ago (+1/-0)

Just to tailor it's responses to placate you, it doesn't internalize a damn thing.
