I don't know about the nitrous O, from my experience nitrous o produces a loud whistle when injected, either way there was too much combustion pressure and insufficient relief at the exhaust ports/valves...I've seen rods blow through the block or pushrods bend and valves drop but never anything like that
Wet nitrous system. Either a leak or accidently activated prior to full throttle run. Huge backfire through intake manifold that blew up and took the skin off the hood. Lucky nobody took shrapnel.
This video is a perfect example of why tracks shouldn't let spectators stand in the starting line / burnout box area. I get that this is probably an "outlaw" track but you would think it would be a basic rule. Lot of different things can go wrong in only a fraction of a second.
