I mean. The tariffs practically don't exist already. As is often the case in history when we've used tariffs before.

Here's something for you to kick around though. If we really wanted to do away with any trade inequalities, how about this:

The American market subsidizes the world by default; companies price their products relative to the wealth of a country's inhabitants (i.e. the market), then prohibit people from purchasing these products from other countries as best they can. The easiest example to give is online media: movies, games, etc. A VPN will easily reveal that other countries pay fractions of a penny on the dollar compared to what we pay for the exact same product. This discrepancy is never addressed, however, since it is beneficial to every party involved besides the American consumer, to which it is an obvious detriment.

So why not tell companies in order to sell products to Americans, whether the product is domestic or foreign, that they must do so at a price which is at most the average price the good is sold for across the world.
