Yeah. Russia has done very little with the uncontested regions of Ukraine, but they totally could have demolished every major city if they wanted to.

The Russian military strategy is to win with the least destruction, making it easier for the population to feel "better?" about being forced to surrender.

The US, on the other hand, immediately goes for all critical and secondary infrastructure from day 1 - just like both Iraq wars.

Seems the philosophy in that regard is to limit loss of life on the US side, without regard for the other side.

I guess both sides have pros and cons, but it seems like the US doesn't want a protracted war on foreign soil (oops, that didn't work out), and doesn't mind spending for rebuilding. All those Blackrock contracts gotta go somewhere.

The movie "The Mouse that Roared" is a good example. Made in the 1960s, a small country declares war on America, only to surrender and ask the rebuilding aid packages.
