Remember that the camera is not the same as somebody’s actual PoV. Odds are it was helmet mounted, so it would be way above the sights of the rifle.

We rarely keep any.
We clean up our mess when we gun pigs.
Open the gut with a pig knife and loosely stack them(40-60 hogs)
It helps the smaller critters break them down easier.
Land owners are always happy with our numbers

It's fully seated in that screengrab, he just taps it to be sure. That's exactly the right size for a 20 round AR10 mag. You're just confused because the rifle itself is so much bigger than your AR15.

It's not a shotgun though. The barrel isn't big enough (.72" bore, remember?) and there's no way a 12 gauge mag would hold that many rounds without being twice the length and coffin shaped.

Thing is, unless the video has been mirrored, this sucker is left-hand eject. AFAIK the only lefty ejecting AR10 upper is the Stag Arms SL-10. But that's definitely not the standard handguard for that one and that barrel really looks shorter than 16" to me (.308 kinda sucks in an SBR.) So now I'm leaning towards it being a .300 Blackout, because left-hand eject AR-15s are more common and a shorty 5.56 wouldn't reliably down a hog in one hit.

Probably not gunna sit well with you guys but I hate this form of hunting.

I can appreciate the shots the guy is taking and hitting, but I can't stand the pointless fear induction of helo hunting. I like animals, I like my pigs, I like my chickens and I like my dogs, I eat two of them regularly and kill them too. But I don't put the fear of God in them before I kill them.

Just go hunting, be quiet, shoot them from afar. Why the cruelty.

Feral hogs are unbelievably destructive to agriculture, livestock and even infrastructure. Yes, they will dig up buried cables and pipes and break them. In infested regions, if you don't cull them in huge numbers they reproduce like 100:1 in a few years.

Frankly what we need are hog-detecting feeders that are also full of claymore mines, but since each one of the mines would require a $200 tax stamp it's more practical to just shoot them from helicopters.

But yeah, like the other guy said: this ain't hunting, it's pest control. If it were practical to use a drone and APWKS rockets for the job, we would.

Deduct the cost of chartering and running the helicopter, the purchase of the weapon and the price of the ammo, and there is no percentage in this method of feral hog eradication .. to do it properly you must clear and trap ranch holdings block by block, then erect hog proof fencing .. just leaving dead hogs all over the place provides a food source for the survivors, they eat well then indulge in a little jiggyboo to make more pigs, the economics just don't add up.
