Yes, humans are a low IQ herd animal, for the most part, and should be avoided. Being a member of society is abandonment of logic and reason. One of the great benefits of the mask and covid hoax was blatantly bringing the retardation of 'society' to everyone's attention.

I don't think Girard was right about everything, but he had some things right about mimesis and scapegoating. When things get unstable for individuals in a society, social trust is low, and the future seems uncertain, we are only ever one step away from someone making a rule that causes one part of society to scapegoat the other. And they'll relish doing this because it will make sense of the world. The powers that be recognize all of this, making it all so much more sinister.
