Anyone here manage to permanently rid themselves of addiction that was destroying their lives?

submitted by MrNiggoriumsBixNoodEmporium to AskUpgoat 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 15:36:25 ago (+20/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

I'm talking any addiction – porn, sex, alcohol, drugs, weed, tobacco, etc.

How did you do it?

I was addicted to video games from ages 8 to 15 to the point where I'd spend almost 20 hours per day playing and when I was sleeping I would sleepwalk as if my brain was trying to replicate the video game characters. One day I had enough, bricked my steam account by changing the password and deleting the recovery email. Threw away all my consoles and games. Had withdrawal symptoms for like 1 year after. Haven't played for over 10 years now.

Factorio had me so f’ing addicted I had to completely succumb and sit and study it in awe. Spending work nights until literally 5am playing it back to back for essentially weeks when I had literally never done that for anything before for my entire life until then.

Broke like a snapped twig when I truly felt like there was nothing left to do.

Genuinely fascinating addiction because it’s 100% mental.

I was addicted to quoting Genesis songs through my teen years but, take a look at me now.

Mumble mumble something something mumble,
Just throwing it all away
Throwing it all away
Is there nothing that I can say to make you change your mind?
I watch the world go round and round
And see mine turning upside down mumble mumble...

I smoked cigarettes. I drank (I was an alky). I was a terrible caffeine addict. After a prolonged period, your brain adapts to its pre-addiction state. Addiction is a pleasure dysregulation. It can be corrected by abstinence.

[ - ] NoRefunds 2 points 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 19:14:09 ago (+2/-0)

I also smoked a TON before. I was out with my cousin and a bunch of marines. They all had zyn on them. I was like wow, chew I haven't had that in a long ass time, lemme get one. I was about to throw up in about 5 mins, it was completely insane. Like I was roofied.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 22:18:30 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah after the addiction is broken it just doesn’t taste the same.

Free tip: astaxanthan supplementation reduces lung cancer in ex-smokers. But stay away from Vit. A which increases cancer in the same population

[ - ] Dingo 1 point 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 14:27:24 ago (+1/-0)

It can be corrected by abstinence.

Well stated! Shedding away the sin makes you more like Jesus, not "great works". This is the true power of what morality really is ... an ability to withold gratification. For example, the fact that niggers can't save money is why they are evil.

The lie of "liberty" is something that binds many. Add to this the lie of "universal brotherhood" and one will live in abject hell, forever.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 15:14:55 ago (+0/-0)

For me, morality is living efficiently in a way that does not exploit others. I agree liberty is a canard. The founding fathers used words like liberty and brotherhood in a very specific context and did not mean we should do whatever we want and share the country with unlimited niggers.

[ - ] Dingo 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 15:30:22 ago (+0/-0)

For me morality is ...

These are the words of a moral relativist. Be careful ... and know that I do not judge, we all have demons.

Actually, morality is that which is aligned with Truth (i.e. God, or Jesus, etc).

I didn't come up with the definitions here.

That all said, I share the sentiment of "living efficiently in a way that does not exploit others" becuase we live in abundance.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 16:24:24 ago (+0/-0)

These are the words of a moral relativist.

Im okay with that term. I believe morals are instincts which come from genetics, and that they vary from person to person and from group to group. So it is relative.

When I say “for me,” Im trying to be polite while talking to a person that has mistaken view or morality. No one can ever know what the perfect morality is, but it doesn’t have anything to do with god or jesus or demons, which is not truth. Those are just characters used to inculcate people.

Morality is actually about economics

What method(s) did you use to quit?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 3 points 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 20:36:47 ago (+3/-0)

With cigarettes I cut back little by little and then switched to the patch. With booze I went cold turkey. With caffeine, I cut back, then switched to decaf, then quit.

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 4 points 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 19:26:42 ago (+4/-0)

I've been completely nigger free for 17 months now, I'm never going back. Not working with them, not buying from them, not selling to them. Not even acknowledging them.

Feels good bro.

-Tbh it wasn't that hard, I was pretty much nigger free before but the situation changed and some were thrust upon me.

[ - ] Ragnar 2 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 00:46:20 ago (+2/-0)

I was semi dependent/lightly addicted to pr0n a few years ago. And was semi addicted to video games before that.
I just stopped both without much effort mostly because I got very busy and have a lot of responsibilities.

To me, it seems like vices take a hold of you when you’re idle and alone. When you have a full life you don’t have time for these things, let alone be addicted to them

Quit smoking in 2015

I was smoking a pack or two per day.

I got a new job that was 5 mins from my apartment, vs a job that was 2 hours each way with traffic and also required me to drive between clients.

First day at my new job, I couldn't smoke on the way there because the trip was so short, I didn't even bother to go out for a cigarette break either.

And no one at my new company smoked either, so there was no reason to smoke really.

Quit cold turkey and have probably smoked maybe 7ish cigarettes in the past 10 years. And everytime I do smoke a cig, I cannot stand it, tastes like shit and I wonder why I even started.

I pretty much have quit hard alcohol, just doing red wine and beers occasionally now. This was before I was drinking a good amount everyday.

Just think of something that's more important than that stupid piece of shit, and you'll quit.

Now I just look at a beer and think, do I want to be at my daughter's wedding in 20-30 years? Or how about my unborn kids high school graduation? Do I want to meet my grandkids?

It's made me slow down on the self poisoning big time.

I was a drunk, heavy smoker, and doper. All gone now. But my obsession with Khazar milkers remains, and will never die.

[ - ] Dingo 1 point 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 14:30:14 ago (+1/-0)

obsession with Khazar milkers

The spell of the sex-magic, succubus witches still holds you.

You can overcome this spell if you start fantasizing about them burning in fire rather than your burning loins.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 15:37:49 ago (+0/-0)

OVERCOME?? If anything, I seek to ESCALATE.

[ - ] Reunto 0 points 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 23:07:41 ago (+0/-0)

I'm all for the test drive, but do any Khazar milker types actually have any real stamina though?

I've been addicted to oxygen for a good part of my adult life. It all started with that goddamn Bush song. You know the one:

Breathe in, breathe out

Breathe in, breathe out

That hypnotic rhythm did something to me and now I can't live without it.

Oxygen, that is....

[ - ] Moravian 1 point 3 weeksApr 5, 2025 22:06:06 ago (+1/-0)

Addiction is for pussies. Buck up motherfucker.

[ - ] goat777 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 19:30:05 ago (+0/-0)

Tobacco and weed, both cold turkey. I tried tapering, never worked. You just gotta rip off the bandaid.

[ - ] PuddinTame 0 points 3 weeksApr 6, 2025 18:24:29 ago (+0/-0)

Cigarettes for about twenty years. To quit any addiction, the very first necessity is to want to quit, waaaay more than you want to continue. What you want, REALLY WANT, decides your end result. I had tried twice and failed, so I thought a lot about the 'why' and 'how' that happened.

For me, it came down to 'convenience' and avoiding 'pain'....once that was known, I designed a method to take advantage of both. Basically my method was to avoid 'withdrawal' as much as possible, and make smoking as INCONVENIENT as possible. My full method is detailed on another forum, but I think I'm not able to mention a link yet. I could probably circumvent that, or just wait til I have the brownie points. The latter I think.

[Overcome addiction] ... How did you do it?

This is one of the most important question one can ask IMHO.

I have an answer, but it may sound "distasteful" to most (even here on this site).

One must first understand WAR. The currency of sorcery is AFFIRMATION. However, in the inverted world of the ensorcelled/enchanted the currency is actually DISGUST - and one can be ensared by the fear of being disgusted at.

Look at your addicted self and embrace the DISGUST. Don't partake in the 15 min of hate on others, focus all your efforts on what you don't like about yourself.

Real affirmation will come and become more powerful than the addiction to the weakened state. Success is your affirmation and lack of mastery will make you shreak like a vampire in sunlight. This way, the "drug" loses potency and can never make you "high" again (i.e. you will not fall for the inversion of a "fall" as a "high").

Traded alcohol for cannabis.
Haven't thrown up from booze in years.
I can take T-breaks just fine.
Thank God.
