I suppose I phrased it poorly. What I meant was this: if prices rise while the dollar's value remains stable, that’s simply a price increase. But if the dollar loses value, forcing prices to rise to compensate for its reduced worth, that’s what I’d call inflation. Technically, I’m both right and wrong here. The two concepts are so closely linked—once prices go up, the dollar’s purchasing power effectively drops.
