The courts have had authority to determine if an executive action is constitutional or not since Marbuy v Madison. The courts can and always could impose an injunction on executive action.
These judges are selected by the sitting president of the United States and confirmed by the Senate.
Right, but also consequent of Marbury is that the courts have no legal (violent) authority over the Executive, and the Supreme Court actually has no authority at all. Congress would have to impeach and convict a president to have him figuratively and literally removed, and at that point any court's opinion or ruling is advisory at best. Same situation for any member of the Executive Branch. In theory anyone who is not the President can be tried by a court, but the President can also pardon them and if they were acting under his authority it would only make sense for him to do so. The entire Executive Branch can completely ignore the Judiciary up to and including the Supreme Court, to the extent that Congress will allow it.
