Job hunting is bullshit

Technology has made job hunting one of the most demoralizing experiences imaginable. Just a rant. It's so ineffective, exhausting and is seemingly designed to wear you down so that you feel extreme gratitude for any scraps of feedback you receive. Endless interviews and mechanical systems that would be much more efficient with humans in charge.

Im lucky im old enough to have already been completely demoralized, then remoralized by my own awakening, otherwise this might send me spiraling into depression.

ProTip: You will never get a job going through "the channels".
So, don't bother.

You either need to either:
1. Show up to the place you want to work and start sweeping until the boss comes over and asks you why the fuck you are sweeping his floor.
or
2. Show up with a bunch of sales orders for whatever widget the company produces.

It's normal to fail a couple times, if you persevere. An earthquake that wrecked the town took my first one out. The only open stores downtown were in large tents in parking lots, for several years. There was somewhat of an economic contraction.

What kind of job are you looking for?

I’ve found low end positions are very easy to get once you’re a bit older. Simply ask a place if they’re hiring. When they see you’re not a derelict teenager, they often are willing to fill a position.

Heck, I have a family member with Asperger’s so he struggled to find employment. A simply conversation with a franchise owner explaining his situation, and I got that kid a job.

My friend landed a job this week for $16.5 an hour.

In six months time he'll be up a dollar fifty an hour. And in another six months with certification he's up another dollar fifty.

With no college education.

#2 is critical.

Those guys only get paid when you work.
They want you to get the job and will lather up the employer before they even meet you.

Here's the deal, they get a cut of what is paid out, you'll never see it and it stops after a year.
So maybe for the first year they'll be like "fuck a raise we pay a lot for that guy"
but thats when you gotta wow em and make em love ya. Then the contract ends and you get hired on perm with a new compensation amount that is all yours.

That's not all, those agencies, if you got a sexy resume, they'll pimp you around and keep offering you BETTER jobs once that initial contract where they placed you is finished. Additionally, if/when you end your job, they will know you as a good lead already if you return to the same agency.

That's how I've gotten all my civilian jobs. It works, It's fast, you will get in the door, they'll shove you through it.

A headhunter gets paid on commission, and his entire job is a stack of guys like you and lining them up for what they want, a successful hiring contract. If you suck, they throw you away, but if you can do work, they will work ya.

It’s economics. Most jobs are in person, and figuratively in the middle of f’ing no where interesting. So they’re desperate if you’re willing to move.

Completely skipped the upload your resume nonsense. Find out something about the company you want to work for and what they do and then call people within the company and get to know them meet them for a coffee or drink after work or something and ask them how to get a job there. That's always been the way people got jobs then I think for a brief period of time for certain jobs that had very categorized requirements the computer resume thing was a good way to weed people out but I think it's flipped again now. The other thing to do is to go to jobs that are actually on a site like a work site of job site of construction site and go up there and ask for a job. I can tell you one thing so few people are willing to work at all outdoors in any kind of a construction environment or anything else that the wages are going up every day. I just heard $60 an hour in California to help the demolition teams tear down the burn down structures. You walk around and you see McDonald's at 22 an hour to start. That's all over the country now. Construction jobs everything else in the twenties

She says thats great but we are looking for someone who can "program in G.U.I."

me: "um, I mean, I can give it a GUI, I can do gui programming if that's what you mean. GUI isn't a programming language."

If you are over 50y/o and White male you can forget about landing a decent job..sure there are exceptions but past 50 you are no longer desireable in the workplace... i found that out the hard way and was also told by two recruiters that exact same thing

My last job I was under a govt contract to work on a local base. That contract ended 3 months ago. I've applied to over 200 jobs and gotten 3 interviews. No job. I'm an engineer with 2 degrees and have made some software. Still no job, good luck out there faggots, I'm considering selling my property and taking that equity and leaving the country for greener pastures

Bro - I have to tell you, I have NEVER seen a job market like this. I have sent out a hundred plus resumes, have gotten to 2nd, 3rd, 4th round interviews and then an e-mail reply saying "sorry, keep looking". I have had a couple of promising interviews recently so things are looking up, plus I am still working so no where near as desperate as some of the posts i'll read on linkedin, but just a weird job market- shit loads of open req's / companies posting IT gigs, but also an increasing candidate pool due to layoffs.

What is the best route for IT jobs these days? I'm nearing middle age, I have a disease that has made me less sharp, so I can't do the most demanding positions, I need something of medium or lesser difficulty. My friend thought he could get me an easy job doing ITSec where he works if I got a CompTIA Sec+, but sadly it didn't pan out, they upped the requirements for the position right after I got certified, further requiring that I have a bachelors degree, which I do not.

I'd really prefer to not go back to college at this point. I was wondering about self-learning IAM, getting certs, and seeing if I could break into IAM that way. I kept reading on reddit that although niche, there is demand for IAM workers unlike many of the over-saturated IT fields.

When I checked out IAM on youtube to get a feel for whats out there, funny enough, every single video on the topic is niggers, and not even particularly bright niggers, talking about IAM career and how much they love it. I'm not sure if being African is a job req or what... Nowadays it can't hurt.

Been daily driving Linux for years and I've recently began creating high level software. I was hacking networks when I was a teenager in the early 00s. I'm an engineer by degree, but that was just a piece of paper I got, hasn't proven very helpful landing a job as an engineer oddly enough. Regardless of my capabilities it seems.
