Linus Pauling said about 5000mg a day of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) would all but eliminate heart disease. It's really not that much.
The rda is less than 200mg. You won't develop scurvy if you do that. You know scurvy where your lips, skin, arteries start to crack and try to heal over by spackling with lpa but it's just never enough so they bust open and bleed. Hmm...the arteries that feed the heart muscle oxygen are under constant strain of movement 24/7. 200mg prevents outward signs of scurvy. What about inward signs, you know like cracking and healing over with lpa as spackling without TRUE healing--kinda sounds like heart disease might be long term scurvy-lite...just a slow buildup of not truly repairing arteries but spackling over the cracks.
Anyhow, ascorbic acid won't do anything but give you some loose stool if you experiment and take too much BUT sure, don't do the 5000mg a day spread out in 1000mg increments. Get long term scurvy lite--heart disease--and die needlessly. What do I care?
I think there are supplements that are better than C for cardiovascular health. Like Omega 3 oils, vit D, magnesium g., mk-7, co-q10, polyphenols, garlic. The absorption of C at 5g is not going to be great and it might cause stomach upset. Do you take any special lipsomal formula?
My father had a triple bypass. He wasn't doing C at the time. They were keeping an eye on a 4th artery because it was over 50 percent blocked.
I had him take ascorbic acid, l-lysine, l-proline, d, k2 mk-7, fish oil, curcumin and aspirin regularly. They recently scoped him, I forget the name of the procedure, but they literally put a scope up through the heart arteries and look for everything. You CANNOT get a better test. EVERYTHING was clear. EVERYTHING...including that 50% blockage.
It was probably just the C, lysine and proline but the other things certainly didn't hurt.
Linus Pauling was not just an ordinary chemist. He won two sole nobel prizes and was once considered the father of modern chemistry. Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, was named after him.
That's a pretty good stack. I agree with all that except they are in no way better than C. Atherosclerosis is scurvy-lite. Only C stops scurvy. It's not about it being an anti-oxidant. It's the function it has in cartilage, etc. buildup. It's a fundamental thing arteries need to REPAIR themselves not sweep through and remove things although it probably does that too.
Hmm, you're missing two though L-Lysine and L-Proline. They both literally bind to lpa and help remove it. NEVER do ANY of these things without Vitamin C though. The plaquing with lpa is actually necessary and you don't want to yank that shit off until C has had a chance to fully repair the arteries. Pauling said the addition of Lysine would help remove the plaque faster BUT this is for advanced cases with a lot of plaque buildiup. You don't need it for maintenance.
You take the 5000mg throughout the day not all at once. Just grab 5 1000mg pills and pop them from time to time.
You can think what you like there but I'm going by the weight and authority of who Linus Pauling was as a man. He used to be considered the father of modern chemistry until the pharmaceutical jews ran his name through the mud.
I also take D, K2MK7, fish oils and magnesium. I'll look into the others. I have heard good things about them but haven't started doing them. Thanks for the suggestion.
As far as liposomal, I take than sometimes. I started making my own a while back with one of those sonic jewelry cleaners, a bit of vodka, etc. I never really needed that much though so I stopped. I ALSO make potassium ascorbate now and then. THAT is fun to make. Mix some potassiumm bicarbonate with ascorbic acid and water and watch the bubbles. Be careful with amounts there as too much potassium will stop your heart. It's nuts that we have all these medicines that require a prescription but you can go to your local grocery store and pick up no-salt and that stuff can EASILY kill you. It's supposed to be a salt substitute but that shit is dangerous in that sense. There is a doc that SWEARS that potassium ascorbate and some d-ribose helps get rid of cancer. It's an interesting theory. Mostly I just do the ascorbic acid though because of the weight of Pauling's authority and some mouse model experiments I've seen.
Don't buy into that absorption BULLSHIT. Theory on that goes that you piss it out so it's useless. Ok, well if that's the case you only need about a few teaspoons of water a day too because you piss that out as well right. See the faulty logic there?

Interesting. Guess Ill keep taking it. I worry a bit about lysine as it might promote tumor growth. If he’s diagnosed with cancer he should discuss the lysine with his doctor and probably stop taking it. Most of these supplements have pros and cons like this. Not C though. There doesn’t seem to be a down side to C other than maybe indigestion.
I do understand about spreading the dose of C across the day, but it seems like a pain in the ass. Could never get my dad to do that.

How does that work? You got a link or something?
I think the problem with C is that you supposedly shit it out ( can’t be absorbed through the intestines) not piss it out. I guess it depends on what kind of absorption we’re talking about.
had him take ascorbic acid, l-lysine, l-proline, d, k2 mk-7, fish oil, curcumin and aspirin regularly.
Sounds good. Consider adding magnesium glycinate at night. Im doing aspirin every other day. Does he tolerate daily aspirin (lo dose)? It started to irritate me and I had to cut back. Im worried about aspirin for my elderly father who is prone to falls. He takes some supplements but he doesn’t like them/ wont take more than one or two reliably . He does take a C/D/zinc supplement and sometimes mag g. and fish oil.

I'm not sure where he's at with aspirin now. It's been a while. Hopefully that mfer is still taking the C. You're right on fathers not damn listening. I mean, jesus, it PROVED itself you know. Lol.
I personally just take a normal enteric coated aspirin two times a week at least.
I didn't use that Camu Camu stuff. I think I used sodium ascorbate at the time because that's what is in the packets I was getting. LivOn Laboratories Lypo–Spheric Liposomal Vitamin C
Pauling also said sodium ascorbate should be used if you do intravenous vit c for cancer, etc as it was gentler on the arteries when going that route. I figured since liposomal is more readily moved into the bloodstream, that might be the case there too.
I have been doing 87mg aspirin every other day for a couple years now. Not only is it good for the arteries at that dose but its good for the colon too (reduces colon cancer) and it seems to promote longevity in animal models, probably by lowering inflamatory prostaglandins. I take calcium + D + mk-7 for bone health ( trying to avoid osteoporosis) but I feel that the aspirin might be protective from the high calcium levels of this regime. Thinking about putting the dad an amino acid supplement like arginine since he has lost alot of muscle tone in the last few years.

My old neighbour went from heart tightness several times a day, to almost zero (only when he has bad goyslop).
I'd avoid vit d and omegas, the way they're made is all but guaranteed to give you garbage and make things worse.
