My understanding is that auto manufacturers must make available replacement parts for vehicles for 7 years. There are some exceptions for parts not critical for the function of the car..like hub caps. Seems like Ford could be sued for the value of this car since parts are not available for purchase.
Yeah multiple brands have had the soy wire harness rodent issue, its been going on for awhile.
I found out I had to watch for gas spiders when I bought my Mazda6. Apparently there's a species of spider that is attracted the gasoline smell coming out of the evaporative vent lines and they'll build webs blocking the holes and lines, restricting fuel flow to the engine. Apparently the earlier gen3 Mazda6 models had this issue and were recalled by Mazda because of it.
Of all the critter issues I've seen with vehicles, I never expected my car to potentially be party ground zero for a bunch of fucking junkie spiders.
The article didn't state the species, but the recalls were real and it was apparently juvenile yellow sac spiders. Kikepedia says they were attracted to the gas line matetials and not the gas itself.
My problem is with brown widows infesting my lawn equipment, and yours is going to be something about yellow sacs.
Toyota fucked me like this with my truck. Flat out refused to put a new frame under it then within a year after inspection by Toyo the frame rotted. It was a total loss and I'm in the hole almost 20K.
It was an '04 but in immaculate condition. Had Toyo replaced the frame it would've been one of my main forever trucks. I had a 6" suspension and 3" body lift on it. It isn't the only Toyo I've owned. They are nothing but rust buckets.
What's wrong with it, the Jews are probably giving you the run around over a part that's available on eBay or litterally down the street at AutoZone or whatever. They are possibly making you wait to force you to buy their overpriced part.
Want to know something scary? I've seen brand new commercial trucks with leaf spring cracks, separation, and hangar breaks. Thankfully all but one case was human error, and the last arguably in part by.
What makes me laugh is I see Ford model A's in the local classic car club that are still running and are very easy to service. When you look at them the connections to the spark plugs aren't even wires. They're long thin flat pieces of metal with no insulation on them. That's what fires the spark plugs. Those cars will probably run forever because they're infinitely repairable.
Sure, but all of the parts are boutique components from small machine shops or are custom, niche orders from parts retailers. The supply is low in relation to demand so the hobby is expensive, despite the simplicity of the components.
Ghey. I’ve never had trouble with any F-150 I’ve owned and I currently drive a 2023. All auto manufacturers put their best money and tech into SUVs and trucks. Never buy the cheap stuff.
Multiple 2014-2020 GMC Trucks have the same Soy-Wiring Harness sheath issue.
My uncle's truck had field mice chew through the wiring on the back of the engine bay twice. Insurance punished him with the process of a 3rd party inspections, and then a 3-4 month repair window both times.
NEVER.. FUCKING EVER buy a vehicle with this "eco-friendly" soy-based insulation on the wiring.
The window wiper squirter stopped working on my 2014 raptor about a year ago. I got a replacement, but it still didn't work. Took it to Ford because it need to pass a DMV safety which requires the squirter to work.
Turns out the actual malfunction is someplace in the electronics in the steering column. The part doesn't exist anymore. They said they'd pass it this time, but I needed by find the part on EBAY. FORD says get a part off EBAY, fuckers!
Looking deeper it turns out that the squirter actually has a circuit to tell if the wiper intermittent works, and if not, it refuses to squirt. The problem is really the intermittenet wiper. I heard a rumor you can short the squirter to get it to ignore the broken signal. Gonna try that next.
Anyway, this truck cost me over 90k 10 years ago and it could be rendered illegal because of this. I always used to trust FORD. No more.
Over computerization is a problem in all new cars actually all cars since $2, 000 and actually several in the 1990s. The problem is instead of simple circuits with switches they use computers to switch something on and off and when those computers go bad as they do there are no replacements.
These computers can run your fuel injector they can run your electric windows going up and down your electric door locks. Most car since the 1990s have a computer inside every door to run the electric door locks in the electric windows because just having a wire put power to the motor is apparently too simple.
If you want to keep it going what you have to do is rewire it with a simple wire and a switch and a fuse. You just have to bypass all the damn computers.
It's crazy but if you want to save a vehicle that would cost you maybe $50.90,000 to replace and would cost you at least 10 to $20,000 on the used car market to replace then that's what you need to do.
They're even aftermarket fuel injector computers now that can usually be used on many old cars with fuel injectors. Now of course if some states DMVs find out that you switched it they won't pass it but there you go.
Of course you could move to a state that doesn't require DMV inspections or emissions inspections but that would require you to actually think about the governments about where you're going to live.
I want to get one decent sized truck. And just keep it running forever. Put a million miles on it but it still looks decent. Still has stereo ac and cruise control.
Sounds like anyonr with a new car need go get some of that bitter taste spray they use to train digs not to chew shit and spray down as many accessible wires.
This story is definitely missing some relevant facts. There is no way they can't fix a few wires that were chewed through. Either this is all bullshit made up to get clicks or the author is hiding a lot of behind the scene scamming. Maybe the owner is refusing a fix and demanding a whole new harness just to fuck with Ford so they give him a new car, and Ford is returning the favor by not fixing the car at all.
I would never buy a car made in the last 10 years. Parts are not available for cars made just LAST YEAR, for fucks sake. Maseratis are bricked because of ONE LIL MODULE that is not available anywhere on Earth. Getting parts for my 2004 Astro van is a snap, imma drive it forever.
