I don't know the Cherokee but I grew up alongside the Tohono O'odham, the Pascua Yaqui, and to a lesser extent what remains of the Hopi.
Those that had their minds right were sharp as tacks and powerfully determined men.
Sadly, most did not and suffered sicknesses in their way.
Nonetheless, I learned a lot experiencing adolescence alongside them and I've always wished them the same strength I wish for in my people.
But... Like I said, I stopped believing in fairy tales long ago; what has been and what is determines what will be.
