the real reason is much simpler: women work less on average than men, hence the so-called "wage gap". Or should they be paid more for the fewer hours they work?

cant think of a single western nation that doesnt have equality legislation.

the wage gap exists solely in jobs where you negotiate your wage when youre being hired.

something that some women are fucking good at, but the vast majority are utterly fucking retarded, and so NEGOTIATE THEMSELVES INTO and AGREE TO a lower wage compared to men AND WOMEN who have negotiated a higher wage for the same job.

Stress can kill a pregnancy. I would not want to impose a requirement that women need to work stressful jobs.
