Campfires

One thing I remember fondly from my youth was getting messed up and smoking cigarettes with friends around a campfire. Crazy to ponder that it was once my highest priority.

I remember taking the train downtown into the city and meeting this other young fellow from suburbia. We were both smoking. He says to me: I hate the hustle and bustle of the city. Give me a campfire with some beers and friends in the countryside with a guitar any day over this.

I completely agreed with his sentiment. Somehow I never forgot our brief interaction.

I get it. My dad used to make us smoke a whole pack of cigarettes when he caught any of us smoking. He died of Secondhand Smoke.
