Trump's Tariffs Cause Lowered Inflation Levels. Wait Wut?

submitted by FreeinTX to TellTalk 1 monthMar 12, 2025 10:39:06 ago (+20/-2)     (TellTalk)

I thought tariffs meant the inflation was supposed to get worse, though.

Not really. I told you! Tariffs do not mean higher prices. That's smooth brain thinking and how the media was trying to manipulate Trump supporters into believing that Trump was going to crash the economy.

Fact is, retaliatory tariffs on countries that are demanding that the US pays them to access their markets is a very good thing. No country in the world has 375 million consumers with the purchase power of the US. If you want access to America consumers, you need to give us access to yours. Simple as.

Inflation rates released today is 2.8%. Not great, but getting better.

@sal_180 on suicide watch.

Only an idiot believes the “official” inflation numbers.

[ - ] TheNoticing 5 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 13:13:57 ago (+5/-0)

Yeah I don't believe the numbers either, even though Trump is president. Everything costs way too much thanks to the kikes, and the job market is catastrophically bad.

[ - ] Rotteuxx 2 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 12:33:30 ago (+5/-3)

...and makes an entire Trump cock gurgling post based on it.

The amount of globohomo fanboys on here is... Well, not surprising sadly. Dunning-Kruger definitely applies to red pills, not just basic intelligence & knowledge.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 14:09:20 ago (+0/-0)

It's not about "believing" the number. It's about comparing the numbers. As long as the equation doesn't change, that is.

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 5 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 11:13:33 ago (+5/-0)

AND it has been only 1 month into his term.

"suicide watch"? Not that interesting.

Inflation rates released today is 2.8%. Not great, but getting better.

this isn't even accurate compared to what they're saying. Their number is a delta of inflation year on year, not inflation itself.

Inflation from 2023 to 2025 is 4.7% delta
Inflation from 2024 to 2025 is 1.7% delta

4.7 / 1.7 = 2.8% delta <- BULLSHIT inflation number

Inflation from 1913 to 2024 is 3068.6%
Inflation from 1913 to 2024 is 3123.1%

3068.6 - 3123.1 = 54.5% <- real inflation delta

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 14:04:53 ago (+0/-0)

What?

Goods, specific price items that are used in the inflation calculation, that cost $100 one year ago, as of Feb 28th, 2024 cost $102.80 as of Feb 28th, 2025.

This is the inflation rate that's being quoted at 2.8%.

You seem to want to change the terms, not sure why. Nor am I sure what price items you're using to compare prices from 1913 to 2024 or 1913 to 2025 or how is relevant to the post. Please explain.

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 15:00:34 ago (+0/-0)

Price of items is a symptom of inflation not a measure.

If they increase the money supply by 59% and the economy (re population) grows 5% then inflation is 45%

Inflation is a tax. No scenario allows for them to declare the true amount of stealing.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 17:37:25 ago (+1/-1)

Nigger, inflation is defined as the increase of the price of goods over a period of time. Duh fuq u talkin' bout?

You're trying to redefine terms to strawman an argument. How bout just shutting the fuck up until you learn what words mean.

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2025 00:26:04 ago (+0/-0)

Tell me more about judeo economics you got taught by jews which turned you into a judeo-nigger.

Ill repeat just in case a white man wants to reappear within you.

INFLATION IS A FUCKING TAX. BY JEWS FOR JEWS.

They own our currency, they print excess fiat currency and or debase precious metal coins. Then spend that upon themselves which lowers the value of currency which displays itself as rising prices because more $$$ are now representing the same value.

Don't fucking argue by parroting judeo-nigger shit. Fucking learn like a white man.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] -1 points 1 monthMar 13, 2025 06:59:12 ago (+0/-1)*

Nigger, I get that inflation is a sorta form of a tax, you utter fuckin' retard, and certainly not just a "tax for jews by jews" (what pure faggotry) but the fucking word has a definition. It has a fucking formula. And, when we are discussing "inflation", we are discussing the word as defined and as calculated.

Your attempt to redefine words to make some sort of bullshit argument is fucking stupid. As is your attempt to cover up your utter fuckin' stupidity with your "judeo-" bullshit. Lurk moar, faggot. Cause you when you post, it's fuckin' dumb.

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1 monthMar 14, 2025 19:03:06 ago (+0/-0)

Tell me more from your jewish dictionary.

Tell me more how magically the cost of living increases 2-5% year on year and jews make up 40% of all billionaires and ended up owning everything.

Serious question
Is there any scenario where you stfu and listen like an open minded white man from uour better?

If not, why did you ever leave reddit? Assuming you have.

Ps im mot debating eith any judeo-nigger, im telling you. Inflation is a jewish tax upon goyim.

[ - ] IdentifyShills 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2025 11:23:42 ago (+0/-0)

Where I'm from we call inflation backhanded tax theft.

[ - ] PostWallHelena -1 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 12:07:59 ago (+0/-1)

Its frankly way to early to know what effect tarriffs have on prices. Besides higher prices are not such a bad thing if they also cause higher wages. Maybe we get some other perqs too like better quality. Chinese shit is designed to break in 6 to 18 mos. Clothes, appliances, everything.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 13:00:11 ago (+2/-0)

higher prices are not such a bad thing if they also cause higher wages.

No. Wages lag behind price increases by a huge margin. This is part of inflation's effect to lower your buying potential. When wages catch up, and they rarely do, you and yours will have forever lost those months-years of lowered buying power, opportunity costs, and simply having to do without.

Maybe we get some other perqs too like better quality. Chinese shit is designed to break in 6 to 18 mos. Clothes, appliances, everything.

As is most of our shit, to a lesser degree, though it's more difficult to pass through. This will still increase the quality of items bought, which jews fucking hate because we don't have to keep buying the same thing all the time, lowering their chances of turning everything into a rental property.

[ - ] Sal_180 -4 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 11:33:46 ago (+0/-4)

I'm happy that inflation rates are going down. Why would I be on suicide watch?

Oh yeah, because you're a dipshit

[ - ] PostWallHelena 4 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 12:09:01 ago (+5/-1)

Eggs are still 3 million dollars a carton.

[ - ] BMN003 1 point 1 monthMar 12, 2025 12:29:33 ago (+1/-0)

Unless you're so hard up you can't trim your budget any other way, you should really be buying higher quality eggs anyway. Their prices haven't spiked because it's the egg factory hens that were culled. Distributors who source their eggs from small farms, rather than warehouses packed with caged chickens, haven't seen price hikes.

[ - ] Imsickofmakingusernames 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2025 00:10:28 ago (+0/-0)

More like $8 but it could have something to do with the 150,000,000 chickens that were culled for some fake bird flu.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 2 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 11:38:16 ago (+2/-0)

Average inflation in all of 2024 was 2.9%. In trumps first full month, February 2025 inflation had risen to 3%. And tariffs will raise that again

I'm happy that I'm wrong.

Well, that's nice.

[ - ] dalai_llama 2 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 11:48:24 ago (+2/-0)

Dude must be happy all the time.

Canada already backed down in less than a day from the 25% surcharge they wanted to impose on electricity, which would have only affect Michigan, Minnesota, and New York:

And if tariff's are so bad, whycome it's so great if the EU does it too?

Archive
Original

I wonder of the same "bye bye economy" meme applies to the EU? Probably not because it isn't Trump that's doing it. The key difference in tariffs: Is Trump placing the tariff? If yes, then it's bad and it means Trump is starting a trade war. If no, not Trump, then it's just good economic sense!

[ - ] Irelandlost 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 17:20:53 ago (+0/-0)

The tariffs are part of a larger effort to deflate the value of the dollar to make US exports more competitive in international markets. Time will tell if it works or not, but early indications do show USD value is falling at the moment which is positive for the US, albeit too early to say if it’s a lasting trend.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 17:28:52 ago (+0/-0)

Tariffs deflate the dollar? That doesn't make sense. Explain. Seems like tariffs would strengthen the dollar.

[ - ] Irelandlost 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 18:19:42 ago (+0/-0)

The US suffers from a form of Dutch disease cos it’s used as the petrodollar. This causes a lot of countries to use USD as the reserve to support the value of their currency. Both factors cause the dollar to be overvalued. While tariffs can’t directly counteract the symptoms of Dutch disease they can force dollars back to the US from abroad through taxation, which then allows the US to devalue their currency naturally rather than only through debt increases (which is probably at its limit now). The last thing the US would want would be a strengthened dollar, it’s already overvalued as it is.

[ - ] FreeinTX [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 19:50:01 ago (+0/-0)

they can force dollars back to the US from abroad through taxation, which then allows the US to devalue their currency naturally

That's absurd.

The last thing the US would want would be a strengthened dollar, it’s already overvalued as it is.

And, this is retarded.

[ - ] Irelandlost 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 20:19:18 ago (+0/-0)

Explain, in both cases. Actually try to make a point, you can do it.

[ - ] Cantaloupe 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2025 15:24:22 ago (+0/-0)

Also oil, we are getting rid of stupid energy policies, and so much other stupidity.
