If such a tree can tolerate snow, I'll see what I can do about importing some seeds.

The moringa tree is grown mainly in semiarid, tropical, and subtropical areas, corresponding in the United States to USDA hardiness zones 9 and 10. It tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, but prefers a neutral to slightly acidic (pH 6.3 to 7.0), well-drained, sandy or loamy soil.[13] In waterlogged soil, the roots have a tendency to rot.[13] Moringa is a sun- and heat-loving plant, and does not tolerate freezing or frost.[original research?] Moringa is particularly suitable for dry regions, as it can be grown using rainwater without expensive irrigation techniques.

I'm not south enough...@lord_nougat is the only one I know that lives somewhere hot, sunny, and not overly wet.

They are all over the place here in the Tampa Bay Area…

So much for rotting roots 🤷‍♂️

Out by the beaches the soil is really sandy. You won’t find them inland.

TIL.

We get relentless sea mist in this very spot. It's like a weird little micro climate or something. It pays off in the summer when everybody else is hot. Unless the breeze quits.

Any land for sale on the outskirts of town? Could quit your job and be a farmer!

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 13:49:26 ago (+1/-0)

Got feckin laid off, so that first part's handled.

Have sort of almost considered buying a weird little farm in PA. Also Maine looked cool [cold]. And New Hampshire. Idunno, not that desperate just yet.

Georgia is nice...has ocean access and is warm.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 14:47:21 ago (+1/-0)

That sounds appealing.

But niggers! And hurricanes.

[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 15:16:13 ago (+1/-0)

Far fewer niggers in the mountains. Kinda fuck you over with the boat...and snow is possible but rare.

Awesome tree.

Original poster maker really did a shit job on the kerning. Use a different font to make it all fit AND legible.

Moringa tea is pretty tasty, but I can't drink it regularly, since whenever I do I can't sleep the night after.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to get seeds going to transplant out once it gets warmer

Here I thought starting mine February 1 was already too late.

[ - ] RabbiKinderschtupper 0 points 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 16:38:55 ago (+0/-0)

For Moringa? Nah. I think I didn't plant them until April last year and they still had time to flower.

[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 18:38:22 ago (+1/-0)*

Where did you get your seeds?

Edit: I need to give this "tree" a shot. Northerner learning tropical and arid plants.

[ - ] RabbiKinderschtupper 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 20:06:01 ago (+1/-0)

I ordered them from ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/195631345628

Didn't have 100% germination, but it wasn't too shabby. Made for lots of good mulch.

Very interesting.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 3 monthsMar 10, 2025 12:11:41 ago (+1/-0)

I keep trying to grow one but they keep dying.

The weather is all wrong for them here, I suppose.
