Hydroponic update

This has been a cool little unit. Almost zero effort to maintain. Wife has been collecting kale and lettuce all winter long, and even the cilantro finally started growing well. The only complaint is that it could be a bit bigger as the plants can get a wee bit crowded. Not a big deal.
For the past 6 weeks I haven't even added any fertilizer, even though I have added water. Can't wait till the snow melts to get stuff growing outside again.

Used to have one of the first hydro and light stores in California, back in the 80s. Lots of experimenting and product dev. Fun times.

*Also, we ran 1000 watt HPS over each 4'X 4', with AC for cooling.

Sounds like you replicated the sun quite well (10,000 lumens per sqft)

Indeed, it was a package deal. When you max out on light, temperature, CO2, EC, and related factors, your plants will grow like weeds.

Punny bastard!

If you're planter is branded mufuga I'm pretty sure you're required to grow collard greens and black eyed peas in it nigger.

Maybe start some watermelon too homie.

Oh, hey, I have the same one. Two little plastic tabs fell out of the light support and now the damn thing barely stays up. It's worked out great otherwise. I was able to get a super early start on some ghost peppers and Trinidad Scorpions

Try wrapping rubber bands around it

Super glue.

Glue, nails, wood bits, plastic bits, rope. There's all sorts of ways to fix that.

I grew weed in my basement for ten years. Back when weed was evil. One evening I found myself standing in the kitchen with two cops and my ex wife..they were there to arrest her for drink/drive……., basement door was open….., inebriated bitch is blathering…., metal halide on timer in basement suddenly fires up with a loud CLICK…..

My stomach dropped….., “did they just hear the lights come on?” “I’m so fucked” are two thoughts that shot into my head..

COUGH COUGH “don’t bring her back okay?” Is what I blurted super quick…..

Cop replied “you don’t want her back?”

“Nope” is what I said……..she went to jail and I went to bed!

Moral to this story: be nice to your plants and they will be nice to you….., also bitches are stupid

No victim no crime.

I miss those days, now you can get a little tent with a carbon filter and LeD lights. Nobody would know

Nobody cares….

Almost zero effort to maintain.

I like it!

cilantro

You monster.

There is something wrong with your weed, bro. Check out deep water culture (DWC) for mega growth. Works great with tomatoes, cukes, and especially weed. Its a 5gallon bucket with a netpot lid and you put the nutrient solution in the bucket with some added air bubbles. Massive growth.

I have the similar aerogarden setup and also have two of the Farm 12s. Lettuce is so good coming from there. You are lucky you got the cilantro to grow, that and parsley are so hard to get going.
I would keep adding fertilizer since that’s how they grow. Water isn’t enough

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 [op] 2 points 3 monthsMar 9, 2025 15:29:39 ago (+2/-0)

yeah, i should add the fertilizer, but i just finished one set of bottles and don't want to open another as we will be putting seeds in the dirt pretty soon. don't want to waste...

I've grown a lot of hydro. too..

Too bad electricity costs have destroyed the home growers fun.

T'was good times. Thank Biden for destroying our energy independence and cheap fuel.

Copper electroculture results when?

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 [op] 1 point 3 monthsMar 9, 2025 17:20:03 ago (+1/-0)

What's that?

[ - ] RabbiKinderschtupper 1 point 3 monthsMar 9, 2025 17:32:13 ago (+1/-0)

It's bullshit

[ - ] Love240 0 points 3 monthsMar 9, 2025 18:15:31 ago (+0/-0)

Something about putting copper rods/wire in the ground and extending up 4-6 ft., sometimes coiled around a wooden core.

I have heard good things, but then again, I've seen people doing debunks and it does look like bullshit.

Even though, theoretically, the idea is curious. We know that as you ascend the electrical potential increases and you are feeding energy directly into the ground by doing that.

shrug I might give a few small spots some extra 'grounding' and see what happens at some point, but I'm not going out of my way. I'm more worried about having correct ph, NPK levels and having enough micro-nutrients.
