Recommend best set up for AV protection

submitted by Conspirologist to technology 1 monthMar 3, 2025 12:21:33 ago (+0/-2)     (technology)

My set up is based on 3 AV:

Main AV, Norton.

Secondary AV, HitmanPro free and Malwarebytes free.

If I use an old computer, I just use the Windows Defender.

What can you recommend for best protection?

Norton itself is malware.

Block ads and third party domains at the browser level. This will eliminate the vast majority of attack surface.

uBlock Origin is good for normies. uMatrix is even better, but is probably too complicated for normies.

Oh, and

For windows, Back in the day 20 years ago i was an avg guy but they screwed the pooch. Currently for live protection Total AV and as an ad hoc scan ClamWin, Malwarebytes and HijackThis for malware, and prevention use Brave or PaleMoon with uMatrix and NoScript and since it is Windows get a HOSTS file or even better set up a PiHole or OpenWRT.
