How do you connect with Voat. Do you use...

submitted by paul_neri to Computers 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 18:41:26 ago (+10/-0)     (Computers)

As you know I bought a laptop (Lenovo $800) recently to use in my new Home Office aka the cellar and it's proved to be fine but I get tired of needing to recharge the battery seemingly all the time. At the end of the day I'm an old-fashioned Desktop and Box man but I think my next PC purchase will be an all-in-one. Did you find that interesting you miserable sod!

TempleOS on my ZX-81.

An iMac, of course. Life is too short to use an inferior OS. I have checked out bill's covid-hoax OS a couple times, but it will be 41 years this summer on best OS.

iMac. The ultimate all-in-one desktop. Built for Apple Intelligence.¹ Supercharged by the M4 chip, browsing and multitasking across apps feels snappier. With a stunning 24-inch 4.5K Retina display² in an iconic design, and advanced camera, mics and speakers. iMac is brilliant for work and play.[Library Service]

And unlimited CSAM scanning! When the Cheka shows up you will know how they found you.

No extra work to tell them what I really think.

I just feel bad for the retarded feral animals who mainline mobile spyware ball and chains.

I did not have the money for a Lisa, but it whet my appetite.

[ - ] paul_neri [op] 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 22:54:48 ago (+1/-0)

"Lisa is a desktop computer developed by Apple, produced from January 19, 1983, to August 1, 1986, and succeeded by Macintosh. It is generally considered the first mass-market personal computer operable through a graphical user interface (GUI). In 1983, a machine like the Lisa was still so expensive that it was primarily marketed to individual and small and medium-sized businesses as a groundbreaking new alternative to much bigger and more expensive mainframes or minicomputers such as from IBM, that either require additional, expensive consultancy from the supplier, hiring specially trained personnel, or at least, a much steeper learning curve to maintain and operate."[Library Service]

Being a man of culture I'm using my SmartTV™ to log in to my shell account on a 256 unit Raspberry PI 5 cluster.

[ - ] paul_neri [op] 1 point 3 monthsMar 3, 2025 19:43:56 ago (+1/-0)

"Nurgaliyev Shakhizat took three Raspberry Pi 5s and smashed (technical term) them all together to create a magical Ceph cluster. And look, it’s all colourful and stuff! Nurgaliyev advises that this is an advanced project for the particularly tech-savvy, and that it took him about six hours to complete." [Library Service]

I use a laptop alternating with a tablet, if you must know

[ - ] paul_neri [op] 0 points 3 monthsMar 3, 2025 19:48:41 ago (+0/-0)

Yes I must know. I'm not keen on Tablets (annoying).

I use a potato...

It's a large potato.

I use a base model iPad for browsing websites. That includes all two websites: Funnyjunk and this one. There isn’t much remaining of the web in the current era.

With work, I get enough time at a desk.

I find using Tablets can be relaxing but very annoying at times.

I have a Lenovo that was always plugged in and now it doesn't turn on because the battery is dead.

[ - ] paul_neri [op] 0 points 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 22:57:39 ago (+0/-0)

Sorry to hear that but it sounds like your fault.

[ - ] Master_B 0 points 3 monthsMar 3, 2025 14:34:42 ago (+0/-0)

Try Toshiba!

Is there an option for a once-laptop that can never be unplugged because of the now useless battery that you are too lazy and/or unknowledgable to replace? (asking for a friend, I just use a cell)

[ - ] namefagsrgay 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 20:15:39 ago (+1/-0)

Charge the battery to 50% and take it out. 50% is ideal for storage. Then plug your laptop in and keep it plugged in.

Won't fry the battery within a year like keeping it plugged in with the battery installed. You just have to remember to charge the battery before wanting to use it as a portable laptop

Upgoat is on all my personal and work devices so that I can watch you all very very carefully.

You especially paul. The Government is coming for you.

I've been using an all-in-one win 10 for a while and I hate it with a passion but I'm holding out to see what win 12 is. If its okay then I'll get a real puter but if not then IDK what I'm going to do. and the first muthafucker that says muh linux gets shot in the face

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 6 points 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 19:06:36 ago (+6/-0)

all I read is I suck a 10 incher and am really hoping a huge bbc 12 incher comes along so that I can choke myself to tears.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 19:08:19 ago (+1/-0)

8 years ago or before I would also degrade anyone using an all-in-one.

[ - ] autotic 2 points 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 22:19:40 ago (+2/-0)

It will have MSes most developed keyboard logger local wrong-think AI.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 22:31:51 ago (+1/-0)

lol I would not doubt it one bit.

[ - ] paul_neri [op] 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 18:57:06 ago (+1/-0)

Ok but what's wrong with the all-in-one?

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 3 monthsMar 2, 2025 18:59:04 ago (+1/-0)

Its actually really nice but I'll never accept it because I like regular computers. If you need lots of power then you'll have to have a tower, not an all-in-one and its hard and damn near impossible to upgrade all-in-ones.

[ - ] Master_B 1 point 3 monthsMar 3, 2025 14:37:44 ago (+1/-0)

Try BSD(M)!
