I would say not so much programming but I think the mental skills that are involved in programming which are basically serial logic and piecing together parts of puzzles in easily definable logical ways are going to be just as important in the world of ai. But programming itself listen I used to program and I've played with these AIS and I have to do very little programming to accomplish a task now what I have to do is be able to describe to the AI what I want it to do and what I don't want it to do and put together the pieces that the AI assembles and also figure out which machinery host is the best to target to make it all work.

Learning to program rewires your brain.

Humans when tasked to solve something. Start at step 1 and provide the answer as step 4. Steps 2 and 3 they have no idea about. The answer is intuitive.

Programmers have to know every step needed for a solution.

I would not always agree with this statement, I get by a lot on intuition even in coding, but specifics are certainly in play.
It's wibbly wobbly sometimes.

Im a programmer. Ive backed myself into a corner of having to program.

I earn good money but if i could no longer program, my next level down of work is literally menial labor at min wage.
