Honestly, religion should be irrelevant when it comes to having empathy. Humans are products of their own enviroments, a person born in a Christian country will refer to himself as such and one born in a Muslim one will likewise do so. I'm a Muslim but i care more about a sincere and kind yet agnostic Swede than your average Afghan animal who's also a Muslim. Likewise it's unlikely i would care about an African's death unless he had proven to be a man worth his salt, which i find unlikely among the 70 dead.
