I think producers used to be the reason great music was made all over the place before. I think most musicians / bands were really just employees to essentially a "company", that was the "band", owned by the producer. The producer made sure that shit produced was good, sellable, people thought it was f'ing awesome the most catchy shit that'll ever exist, and that their names got out there, got them on mtv / shows etc, and stadiums full when touring.

And the reason producers cared was because they could make shit tons of money, because the internet didn't really exist yet so everything couldn't just be stolen. You had to physically buy a record / cassette / cd before.

Now the only thing driving media are marxists and it shows completely 100%. Sure you can still see independent stuff that is great, but as expected, it's a diamond in the rough if they pull off anything that even resembles, even in part, the quality level of what used to produced so damn regularly the term "one hit wonders" were a regular.

Now the only wonder is if you'll ever hear an actual hit during the whole year.
