Was almost drowned by one of those when I was 3... It caught me by the foot and was dragging me down... Thankfully, I was swimming with shoes on that day. They get big, sometimes up to 300 lbs.

I tried to scoot one out of the road one day so it didn't get hit by a car. It wasn't even big, and that little sum'bitch went after me like you wouldn't believe. I was trying to corral it with umbrellas because the trick I'd heard of grabbing them right behind the head wasn't working because of how fast he could pivot. The little dude finally zipped into the woods when my wife walked up. I guess he figured he was outnumbered at that point. No bigger than a cereal bowl and had no fear of me whatsoever.

My old job I'd put chemicals rich peoples ponds in lakes and let me tell you those thing can get massive. I barely swim in ponds and lakes anymore because of those things. I remember driving the air boat on one of the jobs and looked down and saw one the size stove. I should have stopped and taken a picture the thing was massive. Noped right the hell out of swimming in murky water after seeing that fucker.

How fucking fast were both of them? Can it be quantified?

I wonder if the turtle's insides get scratched up by the death throes of the crab claw action.
