No more flying for me . Haven't flown in 10 years

[ - ] Consensus_Reality 0 points 3 monthsFeb 20, 2025 12:12:19 ago (+0/-0)

Going on 22 years for me, and I'm a licensed commercial pilot. My main concern isn't even the incompetence being compensated by technology on the flight end of things, but the shoddy maintenance. (I am also a licensed A&P mechanic.)

No worries for the rest of you flying normies, however; AI will fix everything....

I like to imagine a scenario where William Shatner keeps freaking out that there's a minority in the cockpit instead of gremlin on the wing and everyone keeps laughing at him until they crash.

It's funny because Shatner is a foreskin-muncher.

I read that as Endoverend Air.

Is the maintenance crew diverse like this too?

Because that landing gear should have held up in that landing, and it didn't.

I don't get how the flight crew is responsible for the maintenance check of the locking mechanims on the landing gear, but ok...

Is the maintenance crew diverse like this too?

Most likely. I can't speak specifically regarding this regional, but a lot of maintenance has been outsourced to MROs.

https://blog.dviation.com/2018/11/14/outsourcing-aircraft-maintenance-what-why-how/

From my experience these places pay significantly less than in-house maintenance and were replete with non-human workers. Most workers aren't even licensed A&P mechanics. The thinking is that they don't have to be licensed because the aircraft will be "signed-off" by somebody who is licensed. Back in the day I used to sign-off a lot of maintenance tasks and I didn't even look at the aircraft. But, this was only when I trusted the White guy performing the maintenance. (That did bite me in the ass on occasion, but nothing to serious.)

And that was decades ago when I was still in the the aerospace industry. I imagine it's significantly worse by now. But not to worry, there is always one FAA, DEI, female inspector to cover three of four of these facilities. (When she's not getting her weave done, anyways.)

Because that landing gear should have held up in that landing, and it didn't.

Yeah, it should have. That landing wasn't that bad despite what all the non-pilots are saying.

I don't get how the flight crew is responsible for the maintenance check of the locking mechanims on the landing gear, but ok...

Most flight crew members have no idea what to look for unless they have some sort of maintenance experience. (Even working on their own cars is a plus.) Whomever is doing the preflight inspection is typically looking for something obvious and external to the aircraft. The majority of things that go wrong are internal, however, so a preflight doesn't catch much.

Who was flying the plane?

[ - ] titstitstits [op] 1 point 3 monthsFeb 19, 2025 18:27:12 ago (+1/-0)

couldn't tell ya. but the cause of the crash might have been equipment failure too though.

[ - ] Her0n 0 points 3 monthsFeb 20, 2025 11:14:27 ago (+0/-0)

It was, watching the video, even frame by frame, shows the rear right landing gear collapsed under the weight when it should have easily held up against the strain.

Somehow the flight crew is being held responsible though. Even though maintenance is responsible for that system. If I'm not mistaken, it should be hydraulics and crew chief checking that, seems like no one did.

These planes are supposed to basically fly themselves.

Yes they are fool prove, but are they peak diversity prove? Answer, no they cant be, peak diversity fucks up the stone age.

You know that old saying about how 'if you want to keep an airplane mechanic honest and hardworking, put him on the plane'?

It should be updated for woke DIE shit. "See if a nigger wants to board a plane piloted by another nigger."

Those poor passengers....it was doomed from the start.

Watch Tucker Carlson and Anson Frericks on How Big Business Was Captured by Wokeism on youtube.
The European stakeholder model scores you by an ESG/DEI/Climate change score?

Its all a distraction from them getting insanely wealthy while we argue about this bullshit.
