Not that I owe you an explanation, but there is a lot of history in Eastern Europe regarding Russia, communism, war and other things. If you lived in any Eastern bloc country around the time of the CCCP, you would know what is up. Without that experience you would have to inform yourself pretty heavily in whatever medium you find works for you (books, articles, videos, audio, or a friend).

There is a lot of ignorance around this topic, just like any other topic of foreign entanglements and the west. Nothing ever really changes, because it's always too complicated to be easily communicated to the masses.
