Crappiness was written into the DNA of laptops from the beginning when they failed to standardize around a common motherboard form factor as desktops had done with [I|A|mA]TX. And so planned obsolescence and user subjugation are just part of laptop's inherent design.
I have 3 ASUS laptops that have lasted longer than they should have. Also ASUS GTX 1080 card and Motherboard in desktop to run flight sim. All good hardware in my opinion.
My next laptop will be an ASUS but don't need one right now. I've had my eye on their TUF line of laptops for a while but haven't needed an upgrade yet.
Though, if money were no barrier - I would also look at Lenovo ThinkPad workstation tier computers. We use them at work and they pretty much take care of themselves. Generally seem to be bigger and heavier than consumer stuff but no-nonsense power and performance.
It's how you use it that matters. Never had problems with any of the mainstream brands, but some brands have nuisance quirks. HP was terrible for noisy fans.
I had at one time recommended Lenovo laptops because there are particular old models which take well to Coreboot and Libreboot firmware which remove and disable anti-user malfeatures that the stock firmware enables.
Normies misunderstood it and took it as a general endorsement of Lenovo as a brand, as a whole. I don't try recommending computer kit to normies anymore.
Asus and Compaq were the best. Compaq was bought and bankrupt by kiked HP. Asus hired a new designer who is a mentally impaired faggot. Asus still makes good hardware, but the design, especially keyboard, is junk. Anyway, Asus is still the best who makes reliable computers. At least hardware. I've hìgot mine last year and it works great. But the keyboard is junk, made for tiny faggot fingers.
Is there a decent laptop? I haven't found HP to be up to snuff in either laptop or desktop granted it's been a while since I checked either. The only laptops I've ever found to be of decent quality are Dell and I paid just under 4k for my last Dell laptop and that was easily 20 years ago! But I don't know what's happened to them since. I kind of gave up on Dell when I couldn't use the mountains of spare parts when I needed a sound card or some other piece of hardware and that Dell made them so they'll only work on Dell. Fuck em!
